Think I am gonna close early

After the leaves and debris I have delt with the last two days, I think I am gonna go ahead and close my pool this weekend or the first part of the week. I will be closing before the temp gets to 60 or below, which was done like that last year. I opened to a clear pool this year, so I think I will try the same this time around. If I open to a green pool next spring, I will deal with it then.

Agreed. My close day is going to be Monday, I'm off work for Columbus day I may as well be productive!

The key is too open early and your safety cover has a lot to do with everything. A mesh cover poses the most threat if you open up late. I open when the 10 day forecast shows night temperatures in the low 50's or about one month prior to the holiday.

I opened March 12 last year and it stayed cool for a while. I have a safety cover, not a mesh cover.

I guess I can ask this here since it is my topic. Should I slam the pool and then backwash? Seems it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a lot of bleach in the filter for the winter. Just a thought!!
