I have a ITT Marlow 1 1/2 J75EC10 pump. It is hooked to a intermatic timer. Several weeks ago the pump seemed to hesitate when switched on. I cleaned off the wires to the timer terminals and replaced the terminal screws. That helped for awhile. Now when I switch the pump on there is a humming sound for about 10 seconds, then it stops. It goes through that same cycle after about a 30 second delay. After three or four cycles, the pump starts. After about an hour the pump stops again. There is power coming in to the timer. The circuit breakers have not shut off so I don't think there is a short. Haven't checked the capacitor (on top of the pump) to see if it is starting to fail. Any thoughts?
