Closing a Summer Waves AGP in Oklahoma

I know I am several weeks out from closing, but want to make sure we do it correctly. We live in Northern Oklahoma and do get snow and freezes. The Farmers Almanac is saying we could have a hard winter. We intended to get a winter cover and a leaf mesh cover for our pool. We already have a pool cover sump pump. I just read a thread where someone said something about not using a cover for an AGP. Do we not need one? Won't our pool be green? We were going to use pillows to keep the cover from getting too low.

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

You probably saw one of my threads, I am just south of you and do not use a cover, I just do not have many trees so not a lot of junk gets in the pool.. here are some tips

do not close till the temp is below 60 degrees at all times, I let mine get below 50 degrees...

once below 60, bring FC to SLAM level, I also tested and added FC in Feb (one of those nice warm days) and brushed it in

open before temp rises above 60 degrees

I closed last year in Nov and opened in mar :)

here is what it looked like when I opened this spring

We only have one tree on our lot but neighbors all have trees. We are in an older community so there are mature trees around us. We also live on the edge of town, just 2 blocks from farmland. We haven't been in our house a year, so don't know how fall will be. So much to consider....
