Clogged skimmer sock aerates the line?

I've realized that if I don't clean my skimmer sock almost on a daily basis, air gets into the system and I see the pump is having a mixture of water and air in the basket. Obviously the filter pressure drops. It seems that the skimmer sock is getting coated all the time with what looks like a thin paste of DE. This forces me to stop using the skimmer sock. Any thoughts?

Clean your skimmer sock more often. If you can't clean it/change it as often as you need to to prevent it from choking out your pump, you may just have to forego the sock.
