I am not sure enough of your kind of build to know. I know they will put something on the bottom to make it smooth BUT that does not look smooth. Can you ask him why he did it?
As you can see its completely backfilled waiting on pb to vermiculite floor and install liner can't wait. Also have to put up retaining wall were the machine is. My OCD took over and had to paint all the pipes going to pumps and filter.

Fake grass!! Some of it looks awesome!
A seating area with a fire pit. Do the walkway to it and what it is sitting on different in a big way to make it stand out...color and/or material.

Fire pit was in the plans was think of putting it in the corner by were u see the wheel barrow

That would be the purrfect place for it! So what do you think about fake grass? I could see it on the back side of the pool of the pool OR you could use the "stand out" pavers used to and on the fire pit area to make another walkway around the pool. It would give it strong visual interest.
Think about one of those over large pots to make a fountian in the other corner with some smaller pots with flowers or such in them.
How does this sound?
