We have the same problem, blue fiberglass pool with white line at water level. We contacted the pool manufacturer who in turn sent out their repair guy. Prior to the repair person arriving we had the pool opened professionally and the water was crystal clear and balanced. The repair person sanded the pool from top to water line, then added rubbing compound and buffed. Proceeded to drop the water level down a foot from the water line and repeated the steps. To say that my pool is now a disaster is truly an understatement. After 3 weeks of trying everything known to man we cannot get our water to clear up. Our water is tested on a weekly basis by the pool place that installed our pool the water itself is in balance but the water is cloudy, can't even see the bottom of the pool!! We have gone as far as replacing the filters and cleaning the new filters every two-three days. When cleaning the filters the water looks like chalky water. We've shocked the pool, added water clarifier, nothing has worked. We have been putting a skimmer basket sock on every day, it will collect some but not enough to make a difference.
Will also let you know that the work the repair guy did did not solve the white line issue as it was back within 12 hours and not only do we have the line at the water line you can see the line a foot below the water line! Any ideas or suggestions on clearing the water would be greatly appreciated. The only thing we know to do at this point is drain the pool and refill.
