DE Weird Question

I bought some DE and it came in a big box. After pouring some in the skimmer, diluted with water, I remembered that I forgot to remove the skimmer sock. I assumed the DE would have been captured in the sock, but every bit of it passed through the sock. Is the DE that small?

Yes. It's dust. And you can be sure that there were no clumps passing through your plumbing, although it probably took a while to get sucked down.
