New Pool Austin Tx

Pretty! I love the color of the travertine and how it compliments the natural stone.

Thanks! We will have a sea of beige stone.. but the alternative was to go with something that would clash and we didn't think that would be any better. Hopefully some of the color from the glass tile will liven it up a little

Tile going in, very happy with this choice. It looks 10x better in person!!! Most of it is all in the shade of the coping.. the section on the far side of the pool in the sun looks great! More pics when they are finished. We decided to not put tile markers or tile lines on the step or baja ledge.

LOVE that tile selection! That's gotta be my woulda, coulda, shoulda on our pool.

So whats the story on the stone wall behind? Is it historic? I like the juxtaposition against the smooth travertine coping.

LOL.. nothing historic. My neighborhood is subdivided into small sections, all the section are bordered by Limestone walls. I share a boundary with the neighborhood street. That wall is getting pressure washed once the project is completed to restore it back to the same color as all of the other stone on my house, patio & pool.

A little bit more stone work today... slow and steady. Mostly grouting the coping and we spent a couple hours cutting the 18" double bullnose coping a few different ways to get the cleanest round edge for the spa. I finally broke out autocad and gave the mason what I felt were the best angles to cut each stone for clean lines and the proper overhang on the inner and outer edge. We also had to build up the gunite shell just over an inch to get the proper circumference to line up with the weeping wall.

uggghhh... I can't wait until this filth phase is over!!

LOL on you having to show how the stone should be cut! At least he listened. It looks like your found the right way to do it. Slow and good is better than fast and ugly!

Kim

Ha! No the guys was more than capable. Just working through scenarios, he wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied before we burned through 30 double bullnoses travertine tiles.

More work today.. a bit more wall facing and coping cut. Lueder spa spill over placed today, finishing tomorrow.

Can't wait for some Caribbean blue mini pebble and decking!!!

Little more tile work today... Need some feedback. Regarding the spa spillover. From the face of the spa stone the spillover sticks out about 8" and overhands the coping finger grip below by ~6".

PB says they like them to stick out so far to keep water from tricking down the wall during low flow modes. I think aesthetically it just looks wrong, and being this is an aesthetic feature I can't get over it. PB is willing to cut it back 2" which would put coping overhand right at 4" which I believe to be reasonable.

For others with a stone/lueder spillover like this what are your thoughts on the proper dimensions?

Thanks!

I get what he is saying BUT I agree with you. It sticks out way too much. What this means to you is you will have to stay on top of cleaning the stone under it to keep build up from happening.

Kim

Agree.. maintenance is part of the package deal. I'd rather be able to clean it than stare at the spa's "buck tooth"
