Well, yes, that certainly is a fun part of the job. I will say that it is still a job for a reason and at most times even though I am well paid, it feels like I am severely underpaid!
We use professional design firms to design and furnish the model homes. It's a long process involving them proposing a concept, our revising and re-imagining certain things, and then execution. Usually under a severe time crunch! So not all fun and games but the end result is immensely satisfying!
Those few pics are great. I couldn't imagine all the wheels grinding to pull it together.

No, I'm not an architect. Interestingly enough, I was going to go to college for Architecture, however at the time I went, the market for architects was terrible. So I switched to engineering. Despite my degree, I've been involved in the construction, mostly single family, for almost 20 years now. Growing up, I was an avid watcher of This Old House and Hometime back when they were the only home improvement shows on TV (PBS no less!). After a while you learn what works and what doesn't. I can't design a home from the ground up (tried that in 6th grade drafting class!) but I can certainly point out the strong and weak points of a design, and make some pretty good changes.
Pool deck foundation should pour today and hopefully we'll be laying tile through the holidays. Once this bad boy is done and landscaped, I'll come over with the DSLR and take some better pictures. We'll also at some point have the model professionally photographed and I'll share that link as well.
For those of you in the North Houston area, I encourage you to stop by in January once we open for sale!

Its a beautiful design -- I absolutely love the overall symmetry, the bench along the perimeter of the spa, and the pair of steps. You should consider doing this for a living! ;-)
