Just started setting up this hot tub for the first time. It comes factory-programmed with 4 x 30min cycles per day. I've heard that 4 hours per day is ideal? So I've jacked it up to 4 x 1hr cycles, is this good? Thanks.
I've got a Sundance hot tub also and never altered the factory settings for the cycles. It works great just as is. I've never read any place that "four hours is ideal" before.
So while of course what you're doing won't hurt, it isn't necessary either.
With the exorbitant price of electricity here in New England, I adjusted my 180 gallon tub to survive on 30 minutes filtration twice a day. The numbers are great and the water still sparkles. I only lose 2 or 3 degrees between cycles and it recovers the temp within 10 minutes. I would try and do the math to see how many turnovers you get per hour and go from there.
