New to pools downunder please help

Had the solar cover off a few hours (during day time) as Jezza suggested and wound the SWG down all the way and the PH has dropped. Have not added CYA and CaCl2 yet which I will do over the weekend.

Now to try and maintain that FC level at around your current level. It looks like your FC net loss is around 2 for every 2 that you dial it down and it looks like it holds at around 4. Keep adding that calcium and CYA to get those levels up. Keep monitoring your pH and keep it in range.

As you can see FC level is holding up at 6.5 and adding CYA and CaCl2 has worked perfectly too. However I see that the water is slightly murky today. It has been crystal clear until now. I will check again when the sun is a bit higher up in the sky. I was going to add a bit more CaCl2 and CYA today but I think I will keep them off for the time being.
 
Good to hear things are on track Fgin. I would just run the pump for a few extra hours of filtering to see how that goes, remembering to turn down the dial on the SWG (only for these extra hours) so that your FC doesn't fly up again. I'm assuming your going to keep adding the CYA and a little bit more calcium to get those in range?
 
Thanks Jezza, Yes after the pump ran for a few hours in the morning water was clear again. Why did that happen ?
I havent added any more CYA and CaCl2. I will wait for the weekend and add just to be sure the water doesnt go murky again.

Must be something fine blowing/falling into the pool- dust, fine dirt or even pollen. If you really want to know you can try putting a skimmer sock over your skimmer basket to see if you collect anything.

But I doubt whether it would be anything chemical related (unless you've put something else in other than the what you've stated). See if it becomes a recurring problem but otherwise it could be a one off- you might just need to increase the pump time.
 
Thanks Jezza, I have not added anything else and the solar cover has been on so nothing could've got in. However, when I added the 1kg of CaCl 2 8 days ago, the cover solar was on (opened just enough to pour it in and closed while the pump was on). Anyway will keep an eye and report if it recurs.
