High TA Question

Hi friends!

Pool is sparkling! All summer long! Things are great! FC and CC are well controlled, along with my CYA. All is well.

One question... My TA is high (around 200-225) and I can't get it down. My PH runs around 7.8 and I will lower with MA to 7.4 every so often but my TA never budges. Is this a problem? I know it causes the PH to creep up but I am finding it isn't that difficult to put some MA in occasionally when the PH gets above 7.8. If I'm doing something wrong, correct me. (my first year!!)

No, not a problem as long as you keep PH between 7.8 and 7.2. That is important. When it gets to 7.8 add acid to lower to 7.2. Doing this repeatedly will slowly lower your TA. Or you can speed up the process, Pool School - Lower Total Alkalinity
