Well,.. to most of the 88,000 plus members this will be "preaching to the choir", so I will apologize ahead of time.
To any new members or those "lurking about", this is why. I have only been a member of this site for 2 months, so what makes me such an expert ?
The answer is.. I'M NOT. What I am is a long time pool owner like most of you. And like most of you, I'm curious as to why and how things work. If you have looked around here you have noticed the most gracious, helpful, and plain old good caring folks on this site. The help ranges from the factual, science based aspects of water and chemicals (i.e. chem geek and many others) to the often humorous approach (i.e. Richard320 and others) and also the compassionate (i.e. Kimkats and AZgirl71). There are more of my favorites than I could possibly list here (the Texas connection).
Hmm.. I'm starting to ramble, back to the reason for this rant.
I have noticed some posters have wondered, why this TF100 mantra ? That brings me to my own personal experience here in such a short time, Dave Smith (Duraleigh)
Dave started TFtestkits to offer members an inexpensive way to ACCURATELY test our pool water and save the hundreds a year we (me at least) were spending at the pool store, with at best mixed results.
I know we all want to find the cheapest deal out there. A product of the Ebay, Amazon, etc world we live in. Here is where Dave blows them all away.
He is trying to hold the line on ALL the quality products he sells. He stands behind them AND offers FAST shipping. I, like so many others have struggled to get a handle on CYA testing. I went so far as to purchase the reference solution, so I could see what a 50 reading looked like. Still I struggled getting a reading I was confident in. To the point that chem geek and Richard320 jumped in to offer some encouragement.
It was obvious to me (and them) that it was my testing, not the test. Even at that Dave reached out to me, and at his request we had a 30 minute phone call, where he took the time to offer all kinds of pool advice AND even offered to ship me a new bottle of reference solution if I thought the one I had was bad.
Now where do you find that kind of service anywhere else ?
I'm not an economist, But I know he's not getting rich off this endeavor, He just cares. This website and TFTestkits are examples of how much he cares.
So.. what I'm trying to say in a long winded way, When you see someone say "get the TF100 test kit", remember that kit is tailored specifically for the TFP method and is in the long run, the most accurate and inexpensive way to maintain your pool !
And, TFTeskits.net is the best and only place to buy it.
No one gets a kick back for suggesting it and I am not a relative of Daves'. But if I was I would be proud to say so
Now that I think of it, there are probably over a hundred previous posts on here saying what I just said. But I needed to vent and practice my typing skills (plus I'm to lazy to look for them)
Thanks to all of you for helping me OWN my pool and making me feel welcome here, Especially you Dave :super:
P.S- I WILL shamelessly plug the speedstir as a must for ANY pool owner. It's the most fun I've had since my transistor radio
