1” water line tile questions

Hello all! I am in the process of having a pool built (just finished rebar) and am getting to the point of having to pick out tile for the pool. My pool build seems to be really against anything other than a 6” tile. Of course I love the smaller tile :) especially the 1” tile. I have picked out a few by a tile company called Fujiwa which seems to be a reputable brand. My builder has brought up that the smaller tiles can some times “pop off” and that there is more grout to clean. I am at about 3000’ asl (30 minuets from Yosemite ) and we do get a bit of snow in the winter. I’m wonder if colder temperatures would be the reason for the tiles comming loose. He has been in business for many years and has a good reputation so I hate to good against his recommendations but I am not a big fan of the 6” tile!

If there is the mesh behind it there could be a problem with popping IF the skill set is not what it should be with the installers. I will also tell you he might be saying that as it is more work to do the smaller tiles so.........it might cost him more money.

If you keep your water balanced there will be no extra cleaning no matter what size you pick.

Tiles that don't have mesh behind them have a clear plastic or paper on the front of the tiles to help position them.
