1.6mm pebbles vs 3mm pebbles?

We are going to apply pebble surface to our 40 year old pool. We are using natural quartz pebble plus 10% glass bead.

We are tossing up between 1.6mm pebbles (e.g. skypebble Pebblesheen) vs 3mm (e.g. regular skypebble)

How do these compare? Is the 1.6mm appreciably smoother finish than 3mm?

I think it's safe to assume the 1.6mm would be smoother, as it would have half the effective radius as the 3.0mm, therefor less appreciable surface area = smoother perceived finish.

We just did a wet edge prism finish, which combined their small and large stone + glass beads, and its perfect for what we wanted, but we don't come from a plaster finish experience. We wanted texture, and texture is what we got. If you want the durability of pebble, but the feel of plaster with some compromise, I'd go with the 1.6mm..
