Hi,

I just replaced my liner and I filled my pool using my house water. I tested my water and the below are the results from TF-100. Right now i just added stabilizer, but it needs to take a week to dissolve. Could I add liquid chlorine or 3" tab chlorine now? or just wait until the stabilizer dissolved before add any chlorine to my pool?

PH 7.4
TA 170
CH 260
CYA 0

Unlike previous thoughts, it doesn't take a week for CYA to increase. If you added granular stabilizer via the sock method, most of it should record within about 24 hours after it's all dissolved. Of course the more expensive liquid conditioner registers within a few hours. So once the granular stabilizer is dissolved, consider it in the water.

Day one - keep the FC at about 2-3 ppm with bleach. Once the stabilizer is dissolved, increase FC to the appropriate range as noted on the Chlorine/CYA Chart based on your projected CYA. Hope that helps.

How did you add the CYA? It does not take a week to dissolve and show up on the test if you put it in a sock in front of the return jet to get it to dissolve.

What CYA level did you target?
You should DEFINITELY be adding chlorine to your pool. Bleach to target 2ppm at least until your CYA dissolves.

If you have the CYA headroom, adding some tablets is fine too.
