gluing

I had to move my pool pump because of an addition being put on the house. I dug up the lines, pulled them back 8 feet, and cut the flex pipe off and capped it for the winter. Now i am trying to reconnect them to the equipment and I can not get the pvc glue to react with the casing of the flex...
