More evaporation this year in Massachusetts?

Thanks my friends. Just feel the evaporation is even worse than 2 years ago when we had the worst drought season in decades.

More evaporation this year in Massachusetts?

Can my fellow TFPers in Massachusetts share your pool water loss this year? I am currently losing 1/4 in per day. Definitely more than last year. But based on what I read here, 1/4 in per day is not abnormal. Still want to check to see if you have experienced similar situation this season so...

    Pool stairs corrosion

Thanks. but my concern is the bottom of the pool stair stuck in the anchor due to the rust from salt water pool. The PB said I have to replace with Bronze ones.

    Pool stairs corrosion

I have difficulty to remove the pool rails. PB told me they can drill those out and install new bronze ones would be around $250. DOes this make sense? any other way a home owner can do easily. Thanks.

    Bucket test accurate?

I think the big difference is about the water temp in the pool vs in the bucket. Unless the bucket is submerged into the pool, 5-10 degree delta can make a big difference.

    Bucket test accurate?

Agreed. Bucket test will clearly help you if there is a decent size of leak. For many new pool owners, pool leak is one of the worst nightmares owning a pool. I sometimes get paranoid of leak. Even slight difference saying less than 1/8" in bucket test will make me worry. That's why I decided to...

    Bucket test accurate?

I agree. But if you watch YouTube, few of them submerged the bucket in the pool. i also want to find out what the margin of error is with bucket test.

    Bucket test accurate?

I have been studying water evaporation recently, which points me to consider how accurate of bucket test. One of of the key contributors to pool evaporation is the temp difference between pool water surface and air. Let's assume water temp at night is 80F and the temp is 60F. This will create...

    Possible leak?

Here is the bucket test result. My feeling is bucket test is not that accurate. It shows more loss overnight in pool than the bucket, but less in pool than bucket during the daytime. I also turned off the pump overnight. So if there is a leak, it is more like on suction side. But meanwhile, I do...

    Possible leak?

Thanks Pooldv. So what should I do next? If we can rule out the suction side, should I do bucket test comparison with pump on vs off. Also do you agree what my PB said? He asked not to waste time and money now on a minor leak. He suggested it is very difficult if not completely impossible to...

    Possible leak?

I also asked the question here about the imbalance between two skimmers. One is picking up 80% of leaves and the other picks up the rest. Is there any connection here. I do not have air under pump lid. Can this rule out suction side leakage?

    Possible leak?

I understand this. But I have the concern because water in bucket barely moved.

    Possible leak?

After owing pool for over a year, first time feel I might need to deal with pool leak, which was one of the key concerns when I bought this house. did bucket test a couple times. Water in bucket barely move after 12-24 hours, but pool water level dropped 1/16in to 1/8in. Called my PB, he didn't...

    Raypak 336A won't light

Just talked to my PB, and he asked me to use leaf blower to blow out all the junks at the bottom of the heater. I did, and it worked at least so far. It ignited and started to heat the pump. My PB told me heater needs to be turned on every week for 5 min during the summer to avoid fall problems.

    Raypak 336A won't light

I am using natural gas. It displays IGN error code after app. 2 min.

    Raypak 336A won't light

First time to turn on the heater this year since July. It was working fine before, but now it displayed "CPH" and moved to "SPK". It then just stuck there. You can hear three clicks every second or two, but nothing else is going. No error code. Is that something obvious I can check before...
