I have to completely drain my pool

I suppose it could be copper. But at <0.00050ppm or maximum 0.00071ppm it seems unlikely that it would cause a noticeable green tint. It's most assuredly not iron which is undetected in this most recent report. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/water/article/244813

I have to completely drain my pool

Thanks for that! I feel a little vindicated with your back up experience of this phenomenon. Pre-algaed water? I don't know what else it could be since it's not metals, most certainly. @jmikeb, we believe you!

Ideas for saving my cement from my loop lock cover

Dollar Tree pool noodles are smaller than the ones you'd get at Walmart or similar, therefore closer to the size of pipe insulation but still not as thin. I can't really say what the quality is, but probably about the same. They are about 3' long, so your total footage would need to be...

I have to completely drain my pool

You on Bull Run water or another source? I noticed that years ago as well, figured it was a little algae from the reservoir. Bringing chlorine up to target on a fresh fill seems to remedy it. I don't think I've seen it last even 12 hours. It most certainly isn't iron though.

Ideas for saving my cement from my loop lock cover

I often wonder if the R rating on pipe insulation is any better than pool noodles. They are thicker though. Pipe insulation isn't expensive in the first place iirc...

    spa comes on automatically

From my limited knowledge of spas... They normally do this on a schedule 2 or more times a day. It's so that your water is filtered and ready for you when you go to use it, and also filtered when you don't use it.

    My Dad's Heater

People can be so weird... I would have given anything to have my brother around after my parents passed, although I'm painfully aware of the bs that would have surely occurred.

    My Dad's Heater

That's one of the hardest parts for me. Not that I'm selfish and only want dad around for things like that, but it's all the more painful when I have to realize the reason all the questions are never going to be answered.

    Planning an Ascorbic Acid cleaning

Metals aside, please read . If you choose to follow TFP methods, once you sequester and filter the metals out... no more metals should exist other than fill water metals. You won't have to do this regularly if you don't add metals to your water. Magic potions often increase your metals...

Cheaper chloration with no CYA. Is it possible?

So, you're saying you'd like to grow algae during the day, and swim in it without chlorine (as one assumes, you do day swimming), and then blast it with chlorine at night, say 3-4ppm? How is that better than adding 2-4ppm every day with CYA to reach target? So basically you'll be adding the...

Over flooded pool !!! please help

ACK! In your locale that water in the yard should evaporate or sink in sometime soon. Unless it's raining of course. IDK about if you should bother to drain just yet. Someone with an inground should advise you on that. At minimum, you'll want to test the water and adjust as needed...

    Stains

Rub a vitamin C tablet on it, does it lift the stain at all? If so, I believe that's iron.

    Is this snake oil.

Anyone can have a wordpress blog. It takes all of 45 seconds to install. Using it for commercial purposes takes development money, and or skills, obviously neither is part of their plan if this site has been up like this for a year. Maybe they'll blog about studies and journals and scientific...

Intex metal frame pool rusting t joints, legs. Need advice.

Re: Intex metal frame pool rusting t joints, legs. Need advi My pool is rusting too, some poles worse than others. We haven't tried to remove them from the T sockets yet. It occurred after we added salt to the pool last August and over the winter (this pool's second full winter - no cover...

Oh my! That's just uncalled for. Freakin hoodlums! The pool can be cleaned... the poor plants though. :~{ Sorry to hear about this. Maybe you can hook up a siren to those flood lights... Or a video camera so you can turn them in should they ever come back.

    Heathkit Wireless Pool Monitor

OMG, my dad still uses his Heathkit stereo/receiver and the speakers he made I believe in 1973. Then he bought Dark Side of the Moon just to test it out with. I am sure he never listened to any other song than Speak to Me. He would make me run from speaker to speaker just to hear the...

    Pool Owners' Hurricane Guide

I don't know a single thing about hurricanes and I wish all of you in it's path safety and health. Volcanoes don't frighten me but storms like that sure do. I wanted to add that in the case of power outages I've always been thankful for the oil lamps I keep. Candles are great, but an oil...

    Frogs dying

I've always figured that frogs like bogs... Poor froggies! It very well could be that they are sensing the algae bloom before you can see or smell it and are attracted to that. I'm not so certain the chlorine kills them although I'm not a herpetologist so I don't actually know. My theory on...

    Slime Bag Reviews Needed

Some people add salt to the pool without a SWG because it can apparently improve the feel of the water. You could buy a salt test strip kit and check the level if you wanted to see if the previous owner added it or just bought it in case they installed a SWG in the future. Ya never know... It...

Can you clear my confusion please?

We use a second pump/filter with a bat weight on the end (w/blue strainer screen) of the suction line that is hung over the edge of the pool. Not ideal, but it makes us feel better and the water flow is fabulous. Takes a leaf about 50 seconds to make the full circle. I will be installing an...
