2" post I believe but most umbrella poles are 1.5 and as far as the deck goes I'm sure strong winds would fold the pole or umbrella before harming the deck. A 1.5 pole will still wobble in the deck holder

I would contact them.....Plead your case and you may get it covered only being 6 months past or even some sort of loyal customer discount. Telling them how dissatisfied your are with the product and your switching equipment brands along with recommendations not to use Hayward may help some.

Not sure on the specifics but I have Aqua connect and its horrible!...the app doesn't respond and takes 2 or 3 times for the pool to respond to the commands which leaves you thinking pumps are off when they are still on and accessories or turned on when they never did unless you are standing...
