Have you checked with your utilty provider to see if you qualify for a equalizer plan or time of use plan? Our utility offers both and it helps ease the pain quite a bit. It might be worth checking into.

Also if you have a lawn or landscape plants you can use the old pool water to irrigate your plants or even a neighbors yard if they are willing. If you have an auto fill feature make sure the valve is off before you start your drain.

Is it just a regular float valve? I adjust mine by manualy bending the float up or down until its at the desired hieght. If its a different kind of float valve there will be another type of adjustment.
