Any one who has a ozonator and SWG?

The general consensus is that ozonators don't really do much good in a residential pool. With a properly sized SWG, you are going to have all the sanitizing power you'll need. Just a thought, but could you get some other upgrade instead - colored lights or something along those lines? The...

    Moss for chlorine?

The name of the company is "Creative Water Solutions" and the product is "Pool Naturally." I'd say they are creative all right. The ignorance of the reporter in the video is typical. They never do proper research when reporting on these "alternative" solutions. Amazingly, any of the...

    cya too high

Preventing the situation is ideal, but better to solve the problem quickly than drag it out, imo. I don't disagree that we need to be responsible pool owner, but ecologically speaking who's to say what's better, draining water or continuing to use much higher amounts of chlorine? What are the...

Planning on a pool, advice/suggestions being taken!

First, welcome to TFP! You've already gotten some great advice. As far as the fiberglass / gunite debate, meet with builders who do both types and see which option suits you better and which will give you the better price. With a relatively close supplier, I'm guessing fiberglass will be the...

    Best tester to get?

You want the tf-100. It's not the cheapest kit, but it's the best overall value of the kits that actually include the tests you'll need that also give reliable results.

What R the Best Poles, Nets, etc

I'm guessing everyone else is like me and has never had any problems with theirs. I have the standard blue Pentair that came from the builder and it has worked fine. The one in your links looks like a good one though. My latest somewhat related purchase was a Wall Whale which I highly recommend.

New pool doing great thanks to the forum here!

Glad to have you Matt. Thanks for the kind words. There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes by some very dedicated mods and myself to keep it all running smoothly. I speak for everyone when I say it's great to know the effort is appreciated. ;) Welcome to TFP!

    Converting Others to BBB

If the pool is green, you could easily spend more than $30 on bleach during those few days it would take the get the job done. Make sure to test the water and use the pool calculator before making any wagers.

    Converting Others to BBB

It's the lack of testing that's killing them. They need to get ahead of their water and quit reacting by having to shock every week and making expensive runs to the pool store. Wether they go BBB, use a swg, or use pucks, they are going to continue to be lost until they test and adjust on a...

    Basic Question

It's sort of like a small tanning ledge, that looks like a seat. They are built in the deep end to provide a place to get out of the water without swimming back to the shallow end - a safety feature.

    pump wont prime.

No need to appologize. It's a natural tendency to make a dramatic title when you need help and LOTS of people do it, my point was just that it is not the best way to get the help you need.. I actually did not want you to change the title as it was a good illustration. It's okay though. I'm...

    pump wont prime.

Albert, sorry for the thread hi-jack and please don't take offense, but I'm going to use your post as an example. Please when you post (speaking to everyone), give a descriptive subject title. Titles like, "I need help, "major problems" etc, don't really tell us anything about what's going on...

    Is she nuts?!

Where did she get off on chloramines? When using bleach, we test and maintain Free Chlorine. Chloramines, or combined chlorine (CC), comes from chlorine being bound to organics in your pool water (nitrogen and ammonia). When chloramines are high, is whey you experience that "chlorine smell."...

Pounds and pounds of shock - no FC

I'll just chime in a bit about test strips. This also tells you something about pool builders chem knowledge, but that's another story. My parents just had their pool built - completed just a couple of weeks ago. Of course my Dad was armed with a tf-100 test kit. His builder did not know...

I am starting to hate this thing!

I'd ask for them to have the pool clear and balanced before moving in. Why should you clean up someone else's mess. I realize that may not be an option.

    More getting "Pool Stored"

I won't allow trashing pool builders as there are two sides to any story, but as long as you are factual and not abbusive in your remarks, I'm okay with builder reviews.

I am starting to hate this thing!

I ordered a few items to make up for it. It's a flat fee up to $100. I agree, a little high for just one item. Poolandspawarehouse.com doesn't carry them though.

I am starting to hate this thing!

Twice as much effort as mowing the lawn? Are you including swimming time in that estimate? If that were the case, I would fill my pool in with dirt and mow over it. I don't spend more than an hour a week total on the pool, accept when I clean the swg cell or the filter...
