Where to start with chemicals in new pool?

I knew you had the answer. I just did not know what comes first, the chicken or the egg. Thanks and will do-the pool should be filled up by nightfall.

Where to start with chemicals in new pool?

After many disappointments trying to get the chemicals in the pool that came with this home right, we finally removed it and now have a brand spanking new vinyl pool. 30' by 4.5' high. Anyway, it is almost filled with our well water, which has no ph, cya, etc in it. So..what to put into the...

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

Well, I discovered a leak in the liner and the steps FILLED with algae. I abandoned it until a few days ago. We are now getting either new liner or new AGP in next few weeks. A new thread will be started.

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

NO!! NOT PH. Chlorine test [my misprint.]. It looked clear as water without any yellow drops added. Ph IIRC was midscale.

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

Well, well. We returned home late last night with clear water in our pool. A [oops-edit--not ph] chlorine check this morning showed -0- on the scale. So, I poured another 3 gallons of 10% into the pool about 2 hours ago. The cl still indicates above the limits of my tester, but that is to be...

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

I assume the pump needs to be off as there will not be anyone to watch the sand filter pressure.

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

Grump grump. I got the PH back to 7.2 and was ready to SLAM first thing in the morning. Bad news though, a family emergency and have to be gone until Sunday. I hope the pool is not too bad when we get back. The current FC is still about 0.0 and am tempted to dump 4 or 5 gallons of bleach in...

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

I have not done a OCLT per say, but I have tested chlorine late in the evening and discovered it back to 0 in the morning. I guess that is close enough.

SLAM, Empty and refill Sand Filter or ???

I am spending a lot of $$ on chlorine trying to get chemistry right in my pool. The wife is ready to call a pool pro.... Anyway the current info taken minutes ago are FC=0.0 PH=8.0 TA=90 CH=0.0. CYA=60. Background; 29 oz Borax (20 Mule) , 69 oz 10% bleach added 2 days ago--42 oz Baking...

    Growing Algae

Assuming no leaks when I remove the tablets, should I plan on a SLAM or drain, scrub and refill? Well water and rain are only two sources.

    Growing Algae

I know, but I did not have clothes to get them this afternoon. Tomorrow probably four pm will be the soonest I can get them. Hope it will not cause weak spots in the liner. Discoloration I can live with.

    Growing Algae

Well, we made it back to our soon to be home. Closing tomorrow afternoon. Our pool is now filled to the eyeballs and growing algae as one might expect. I put two floaters with 4 chlorine tablets in each one in the pool. I failed to get the top on one of them and three fell out. So I guess I...

New guy, almost a pool owner.

I bought a chlorine floater today and a 25 LB pound bucket of chlorine. I lucked out and walked into a place that was no longer going to support pools, only spas. He charged me only $62 for the 25-pound bucket! I think I got a great deal. I also have on order the TF-100 with XL option, the...

Currently, it has a few feet of rainwater in it. Would it be a mistake to fill it with existing well water after removing what debris I can? I have no way of testing the makeup of the well water until we get there. Even then we will be there only a few days until we return back to Illinois. I...

No, I am not sure, that came from the realtor's description. I suspect it is more like 48"deep, but until we go back there on the 19th I will not know for certain.

New guy, almost a pool owner.

Plans are to close on our home with a pool on the 19th of July. I have been in several pools, owned a few blow up pools, but never an aboveground pool. This one is 30' in diameter and was told to be 30" deep. Right now it has rainwater from over the winter and some leaves and debris in it...
