Thanks for all your responses. I am so distraught over all of this. I’m almost regretting putting Up the pool the first place. I will definitely not hook the bonding wire to the rod. If I leave it in the ground will it affect anything?

I called the company that did the electrical work and told them about being shocked. They sent the same guy out who, before I even got home, drove an 8 foot rod into the ground by the pump and rerouted his grounding wire from the outlet through the lug on the pump and then to the rod. I am...

I have a question about bonding around the pool. I understand that I need to run a copper wire through direct burial lugs that are attached to the pool uprights at 4 points around the pool, but here is my question: If the uprights have a corrosion blocking coating on them, how can there be a...

I guess I should mention that the electrician went from the box in the basement through a crawl space and out the back of house.

Here is the wiring. He came out of the house, hooked up to a gfi, then ran #8 copper to the lug on top of the pump where I already had my copper attached. I foun the grounding screw on inside cover which already has a green wire attached to it. It seems too small to wrap this hick copper around.

Yes, I had an electrician put a new breaker in for the pool pump and he put an outlet and switch by the pump. He put that grounding wire in the top bonding lug along with the one I put there. So, should I move the one the electrician did to the lug that is hidden? I plan to run new copper...

Also, if I did this incorrectly, and since my pool is buried (in some places up to 3.5 feet) can I just put In another copper wire 6 in below grade and 18in out and attach it correctly? Thanks for your help!

I used offset terminal lugs that I attached with self tapping screws, 8awg bare copper and #8 split bolt connectors.

Thanks for the info. I’m now reading some posts and I think I may have used the wrong type of screws to attach the lugs to the uprights. What are you supposed to use to attach them? Also I read that the copper ring needs to be below the liner? So I will have to dig up my back fill and redo...

    Electrical Shock

I had my 24' round pool put in about 2 months ago. I ran #8copper wire around the pool and connected it to the pool uprights in 4 different locations and then fed the copper through the grounding lug on the pump. By the way, my pump only has one grounding lug on it. Everything was fine until...
