16X48 Ultra Frame Intex Pool Filter Upgrade

I use zeobryte (same as zeosand) in my filter. The only reason I used that was because I couldn't find any sand to buy!! It works perfectly, but I do think sand is sufficient. I initially had the same problem with the zeodust. I think it needed a much longer backwash than I gave it (i backwashed...

    New pool test results

Same here. I initially used the same kit, and when I did get my TF-100, I found that the pH and chlorine tests matched quite well. GC

High Pressure Low Output (with a twist)

I find it hard to determine clear water from dirty water in my sight glass. Anytime I backwash the water in the sight glass looks clear to me. But I have a small sight glass, so that would make it hard to determine as well. I asked the OP for a FC measurement but only heard back that it was...

    Clear green tint

That's a cool story! This site is awesome. I have 2 friends with pools that just refuse to use the TFP method. They have issues every season. And the hardest blow to one Dad was when his son jumped into my pool and shouted "THIS IS THE BEST WATER EVER!!". I could see his father wasn't too happy...

    Clear green tint

@crokett: That's how I ended up at this site. My first pool was only a 12 foot round intex, but even with that, I wanted to do it right, but didn't have a clue. The first year was adding stuff from the pool stores. The second year was winging it on my own, and ended up full of algae. Small pool...

Get the test kit, get the CYA and FC levels, and let us know what they are. We can tell you what to add, when to add it, when to test, and everything else to guide you through. Did I say get the test kit? If not, I'm sure someone above might have mentioned it. Oh and one more thing. Get the test...

High Pressure Low Output (with a twist)

It sounds like it could possibly be the start of an algae bloom. 2 things make me think that. Firstly, you said you have little or no flow after 90 minutes. Secondly, you said that it seems to "reset" itself after a backwash. It sounds to me like the filter is doing its job, but there is lot for...

    Clear green tint

You have to get the test kit. That's the only way to know for sure what your measurements are. Once they are known, you can attack the problem properly and get your pool back to clear. The kit is worth much much more than you will pay for it. Get it from Duraleigh here on this site. You will...

Pool will not hold chlorine, CYA level extrmely low. cloudy.

Nope. It's fine. As a matter of fact you will most likely have less chance of harming the liner using regular bleach than "pool chlorine" - due to the usually higher concentration in the "pool chlorine". Both are sodium hypochlorite, and works the same in sanitizing your water. But household...

    Clear green tint

"... the algae was a different color green and the water wasn't clear...." That looks like algae to me. I wouldn't call that water clear at all. In fact, it looks quite cloudy to me. Looks the same color as the algae bloom I had a couple of years ago when my pump gave out and I had no good way...

Also, how long were you at the beach?? You said you went to the beach, pump cut off, and you came home to a green pool! How long was your pool sitting with no circulation? As a first time pool owner, the first thing you need to do is join this forum. So congrats!! Knowledge is the key, and this...

Pool will not hold chlorine, CYA level extrmely low. cloudy.

^^This Also, in your opening post you stated"....After a day or so I vacuumed it all out, the water got really cloudy i figured it was from me stirring it up. But it never unclouded. and after a few days the algae came back....." Just so you know, the algae didn't leave. Once you had the algae...

Hanging a rectangular Intex Ultra Frame Pool directly from the pool deck

I didn't read all the posts in this thread - just the first 3 pages. First of all, there is very little down pressure on the top rails of these pools. Of course they are difficult to lift, but that's because you are trying to lift thousands of gallons of water above its "natural" level. If the...

    Sand Filter Issue

Yes you may indeed have cleared up your algae the spring. But you say you bring your chlorine level to 5, and not add any more for a couple of days?? Depending on your CYA level, you could be inviting trouble. My guess is algae. And trust Duraleigh. He knows what he's talking about.

    Dogs+Intex=??

Is it an old dog? If it's a healthy dog, it's pretty easy to train her to use the ladder. Especially a Golden Retriever - they're a pretty intelligent breed.

intex 24x12 ultr frame pool question

I have often wondered if the take-down, folding, and storage is harder on the pool than just leaving it up. I've been debating it the past few years, and at each setup and take-down, whilst swearing, I think hard of not taking it down at all.

Q1: Yes Q2: E and F are the dimensions of the top rail. Q3: C and D are the outer dimensions of the BOTTOM of the support rails - where they rest on the ground. That's the footprint of the entire setup.

    Solar Cover and Regular Cover??

The cover that came with my pool was junk. It ripped the first time I put it on. Maybe yours is of better quality. You'll soon find out!! One thing I like about it is that anything that blows on to the pool cover doesn't end up in the pool. Unlike my solar cover, which dumps everything into the...

    Intex Ultra Frame Inquiry

There is a pressure gauge on the filter/pump. When you first set up your system and turn the pump on, take a reading from the gauge. This is your clean reading, or clean pressure reading. When that pressure increases by 20-25%, it's time to backwash. For example, if your clean reading is 10 psi...

    Intex Ultra Frame Inquiry

Just a note on the pump/filter. My neighbor just purchased the exact setup you mentioned. The included sand filter cleans wonderfully, but needs much more frequent backwashings than the larger filter. for example, in the past 3 weeks and a bit, they have backwashed 3 times. I have a larger pool...

ProSeries 16X48 pool filter system help!

Hi Vickers, I have a ProSeries pool as well. The pump that comes with the pool is not nearly sufficient for keeping your pool clean. I purchased a sand filter for mine, and the difference is night and day. I still use the included pump as a skimmer. My suggestion would be, if funds allow...

My neighbor's pool has a TA of 120, and a pH that appears be locked in at 7.5. Is there any need to lower the TA? She wants to, but I told her there's not need to if her pH stays where it appears to be staying. If pH rises, the TA will drop when I lower the pH anyway. Vinyl pool, SWG, CYA 70...
