    Outdoor speaker wiring project

As it will be inside a hollow molding (essentially a tube) with a little air space around it, I would imagine the living room wire would be completely safe and secure. That's my opinion, and I am not an expert at all.

    Outdoor speaker wiring project

I don't believe Rafael told us the actual distance, but he is looking at using high quality speaker wire, apparently up the inside of a wall, thru the attic and exiting an exterior wall to outside speakers. The wire he discussed at the top of the thread is 12 gauge, though I'd say most of us...

    Outdoor speaker wiring project

Raf, If you have 2 zones available, and you are using one for indoors and one for outdoors, then you're in good shape. If you want more zones, you'll need more switching capabilities, therefore a speaker switch with even more options. And don't use that 16 gauge wire for your outdoor...

    Outdoor speaker wiring project

Rafael, And remember that a heavier gauge wire will carry the sound to your speakers somewhat more efficiently with less loss of digital fidelity across the distance from your sound source. We did exactly as you have planned, up through the wall, across the attic and out under the roof of the...

    Patio Covers

BSkies, I think you're on the right track, though I had to laugh when you noted your wife wants something different than you do! Who's surprised at that? As to the beadboard, I'm not entirely sure. You can certainly "waterproof" it with paint on the top, bottom and all edge surfaces. I like...

    Patio Covers

Blueskies (makes me think of Brewskies), There are many types of Patio Covers. I'm guessing you mean the 'arbor / pergola' type: It's a little like building a deck in the air, only the deck boards (open roof) are often standing on their edge the length of the structure, not laying down...

The TFP Name the Shock Process Contest Finals

OK, we're all a little surprised that one entrant got the top 3 picks. But then we have to understand how the system and how human nature works. [I was involved in this kind of process as part of my career and have had to explain it to many surprised entrants and voters.] Selections like...

The TFP Name the Shock Process Contest Finals

Now we know that Crek31 likes the winning entries. I would hope so, since they're his/hers! :goodjob: Now lets get some more votes going. 50,000 members and only 50-some votes? That's only 1/10 of 1 percent. Not nearly enough! Vote, Vote, Vote!

I really like the look of travertine

I'd suggest starting with an internet search for Travertine Pavers, in your area, if possible. Also be sure to read up on whether the salt from salt water chlorine generators might affect travertine in any way, if you are ever considering that as a possibility. From what I've heard, salt can...

    Esther Williams passed away!

Yes, and she was a nice woman. Usually pretty relaxed, she liked to 'hang out' with friends, and make new acquaintances. She had just enough attitude, and a good sense of humor.

Liquid Silicon or Vaseline in the POOL?

Harley, At 5'2", you'd say I'm still a minnow! And my games were gymnastics and soccer. In high school, we all played SMEAR. You know, everyone tackles the guy (or girl) who has the football. No rules. Same idea as Killball. Also, I worked as a lifeguard for 4 or 5 summers, so I have some...

My Chlorine Consumption is Down Year To Year

It sounds reasonable. If your pool cleaner is removing debris from the water, the chlorine has less work to do, hence the chlorine lasts longer. Although other factors, such as pool usage, chemistry and weather can also influence your chlorine residual. In any case, it seems like a good outcome.

Liquid Silicon or Vaseline in the POOL?

I know it sounds like fun, but why would you do a field game in the pool? It could be dangerous to some kid. Why have a watermelon destroyed in your pool? That's a clean-up I'd like to watch. But most importantly, why would you take the chance of compromising or damaging your filter, and...

    screen enclosure screen scenes

Hi, I'm originally from Baltimore, MD which has a long history of Painted Screens for privacy. The screens are painted on the outside, and during daylight the paintwork is illuminated - you cannot see thru, into the home, because it is darker inside than outside. At night, however, interior...

    Outdoor Kitchen - Detached Garage

I always thought that wood fiber was one of the ingredients in that kind of siding, so I would contact Hardie and ask. You don't want to void your warranty. Of course, if the heat (grill) was at the far end of the run of 'cabinets', away from the garage, I wouldn't imagine any issues. But...
