What did you do to your pool today?

<---here is before Hurricane Ian. And below is after Ian. Tore the roof of the Tiki hut apart and blew out one side of the pool screen enclosure, bent the other side. Wished I hadn't had it rescreened last year as then the screens might have given way instead of the cage structure. With no power...

What did you do to your pool today?

Where I'm at in Florida on well water it's so bad I found out I can't use it to fill the pool until after I get my whole house reverse osmosis system installed. Salt has been rising steadily and found out it's because the well water is full of it. Had to order water as the skimmer is starting to...

What did you do to your pool today?

This is a different filter than mine in the video. Where he applies it to the O ring while it's installed I take the O ring off and lubricate both sides (all) of my O ring. I also make sure both the lower housing and upper housing gasket surfaces are clean before I reinstall it. I also should...

What did you do to your pool today?

The O ring should slip off the lip of the top halp of the filter housing. You don't need much and have some paper towel or rag handy to wipe hands after. Just a little dab and then spread it as far as it goes and than take a little more. You'll get the hang of it soon enough on how much grease...

What did you do to your pool today?

When was the last time you lubed the "O" ring for the cover ? When I notice mine is dry or after reassembly it seeps I know it's time to pull the gasket and coat it again with a little silicone grease. Makes a world of difference in helping the O ring seat properly. Either pickup a little tub of...

    C-19 Vaccine-I got one

My GF has asthma among a few things that make her very vulnerable and last year when Covid was setting in she had a severe attack and I had to take her to the ER. Have had to do that before and unfortunately I know the waiting room and it's amenities like free coffee and where they keep the...

What did you do to your pool today?

Just moved in to new digs in Florida. Not sure how they were taking care of the pool but in first month it's taken 160 lbs of salt, almost 7 lbs of stabilizer and a gallon of acid to get the levels where they should be. This is my first concrete swimming hole so also had to use 19 lbs of calcium...

    C-19 Vaccine-I got one

I've had my two and thankful to the Veterans Admin for getting me in. The just recently said they are now covering spouses and caregivers so got my GF in for her first one last Friday. After months and months of watching the numbers of deaths climbing we were more than willing to get the shot...

What did you do to your pool today?

Just looking at the snow on top of the cover. Wish I'd win the lottery so I could build a pool house that could double for a greenhouse and keep the pool warm and cozy all year long. .

What did you do to your pool today?

Vacuum and swept. Need to weed around the apron but that's going to be another day. .

What did you do to your pool today?

Yesterday I set up the little solar powered bird bath on the deck and emptied, cleaned and refilled the plastic pond next to the pool. I made the mistake of looking under the pools cover only to come face to face with a slightly green monster. The algaecide I used last fall seems to have let me...

What did you do to your pool today?

Looked out the window and wished I had a dome and heater. I can almost see myself on a float with a hot chocolate relaxing just enjoying the water. Back to reality, it's 17 deg out, the pool is a block of ice and I have to bundle up some as I have yard work to do. At least I haven't had to fire...

What did you do to your pool today?

Ctrav, end results look great !! Vacuumed out three skimmer baskets of pine needles, brushed and ran the pump a while to filter the stirred up dirt. It's still only 76. Been a fairly cool spring and only really been gaining much heat last few days. BUT, I'll take it

How Did TFP Save You Money Today?

I just vacuumed yesterday. Forgot to mention the spun hair nets like food service workers use that I came across the recommendation here. I have seven mature pine trees that shed needles like crazy but are just to beautiful to cut down but way too close to the pool. Thirty years ago they likely...

How Did TFP Save You Money Today?

It was hard to buy the testing kit but every day I'm adding anything to the pool I'm saving money. I don't get pool stored at the beginning of the season with bottles of algacide and or clarifier/flock. Bleach is so much cheaper than pool store sanitizer or shock as is common muratic acid to...

What did you do to your pool today?

Needed to add a little chlorine after testing. Brushed the bottom and tried to sweep up some of the pine needles on the apron. Fairly windy last couple days and getting a lot of needles blowing into the pool. Ordered a few of the spun hair nets like kitchen workers wear and used those in the...

What did you do to your pool today?

Pumped the last of the water and scooped all the leaves and pine needles I could off the cover and finally removed it. Carried out the solar cover. Water is at a chilly 54 deg and a little green. Got the pump running, did some tests and starting the battle. Already looks much better. Have to go...

What did you do to your pool today?

Started digging out pool equipment. It's still a block of ice but have the new TFtestkits chemicals so I swapped out the old for the new. When it gets a little warmer I may need to give the plastic ladder trim rings a new coat of white paint.

    Gardening...Vegetable Gardens?

Marigolds are supposed to work on rabbits and other small furry critters. I've been doing that for a couple years and I'm not sure if it's working but it sure hasn't hurt and it does add a lot of color. At the end of the year you can collect the buds and have plenty of seeds for the following...

What did you do to your pool today?

Two shots vodka, one Dr. MiGillicuddy's cherry, top with sprite. Remove pool solar cover and add 3.5 gallons 12.5 chlorine to the pool (I get the vodka). Brush well (the pool). Enjoy the stars, the cool evening air and relax watching some youtube videos with headphones.

This news story is NOT about me....

I feel more sorry for the snake suffering burns from being thrown on the grill. What is wrong with people ?? That's like kicking a dog and complaining it bit you. Of course it did, you kicked it. You throw a live snake on a BBQ grill and it's obviously going to get off as fast as it can, through...
