How to protect wooden patio furniture?

I just bought two chaise lounges online and the reviews say they are great chairs but they don't weather well. I was thinking of using Thompson Water Seal or some kind of polyurethane. What do you guys recommend? The chairs are some kind of imatation teak and the instructions say to use teak oil...

What type of grids to get?

Based on cost and maintenance, I went with the porcelin. I think they are cast iron with porcelin overlay. The original I had lasted 4 years. Costing $34, I can live replacing them every 4 years. S/S was way too expensive and probably would of given me a couple more years for 5 times the cost...

What type of grids to get?

Does the S/S grids scratch and look dull if not taken care of? I have read that the cast iron needs to be seasoned all the time with oil/grease. Does that mean that you have to coat them with oil after each use? Thanks for the replies.

What type of grids to get?

I have a Perfectglo S/S grill that I bought at BJ's wholesale which I like but it it beat up and I need to buy new grids, a new burner and new heat deflectors. I believe the grids that came with the unit is steel with porcelin. THat has all flaked off, so I am considering upgrading the parts so...

    Retractable Awnings

I have been doing research and have narrowed it down to two models. Awntech - has larger sizes that I need (ranging from $1600 20X12 or $2000 for a 24x12) and the fabric is acrylic which they say is better (Sunbrella is acrylic) Sunsetter- Costco has a 30% off sale, a 18X10 is $1100 shipping...

    Retractable Awnings

Thanks for all of the responses. I thought about doing an arbor but not enough shade, if I go the vine route it would be almost over the pool and I do not want plants over the pool. Shorelover Is that a fixed awning? I need about a 10ft projection (length of the awning).

    Retractable Awnings

Anyone have any experience with retractable awnings? I am looking for a 22' x 10' or 12' model. Our backyard faces west and we get a lot of sun from noon to 6pm but the problem is the height of my covered patio does not provide much shade when the sun is in the two o'clock position and later...

Killing weeds between pool deck pavers

I have read that polymeric sand is the way to go as well. The only thing is I can't seem to find it in South Florida. I have called paver companies and they say either to use silica sand or mason sand. Does any one know where to get polymeric sand in So FL?

    What's your water temp?

90deg here with solar heat and cover. It got too hot so I did not cover at night. We have been in the mid 80's for a high and 68 for a low. It is amazing how important it is to cover the pool. The three nights that I left the cover off, my temps went down to 80 deg.
