Got in the pool last night..... The 2 wall drains look fine and didn't noticing anything. Unscrewed the wall skimmer plate and I did notice some gunk/build-up behind it and cleaned it up. Inspected underneath the cover and it looked fine. I did notice underneath the cover's metal tube there...

No clorox...just plain regular. Right now I’m using Valley View 8.25% from Farm and Fleet.

Considering it looks like there is no end in sight, would it make sense to just bump the FC up to a much higher number (40) so that I'm above SLAM level for a longer period of time and there is a higher concentration of FC?

This is really baffling. There has be an enormous amount of algae growth somewhere to eat that much bleach and still be hungry. I've lost around 230 FC in 5 days.

I'll look at the lights again tonight, but I don't think they are the kind I can remove from the wall. I have PAL-2T4 lights and the manual says to drain below light to remove.

I'll be checking everything tonight for sure. Unfortunately, I can't find the higher percentage liquid chlorine around me. Our stores have already pulled pool supplies. I'd have to drain the pool a couple feet to remove lights so let's hope that is not the problem. I was able to locate 8.25%...

I was definitely hoping not to lose that much overnight. I'll have to check those spots tonight when I get home...my wife is running the tests and adding bleach during the day. Crazy to see a crystal clear pool and continue to lose so much FC.

Well...there is some FC monster in the pool. Crystal clear water and went from 25 to 14.5 overnight. This is borderline ridiculous...I'm now at 50 jugs with no end in sight.

According to walmart site, it appears to be 2.75%.

Thanks for all the help... There is obviously something eating the FC as it dropped from 30 to 12.5 overnight. The water is pretty clear but still not crystal. I'm 41 jugs in. Thank goodness I found some 8.25% bleach yesterday with a date code of 18232 and cheaper than the 6% I was using too.

Well...things look better. The water is is much clearer now vs this morning. Can actually see the bottom and the drains but still not crystal clear. Readings.... 6pm...PH 7.4, CYA 65, FC 6, CC 1. Turned off SWG and added 5 jugs of 8.25%. 6:20pm...FC 35 and CC 0.5. The readings at...

Also....should I turn off my SWG to get a better reading as to how much chlorine I'm using up between tests?

Thanks for the additional recommendation. Unfortunately, the 10 minute drill will have to wait since I have something I need to attend to this afternoon. I obviously screwed this thing up from the beginning so hopefully I can turn it around. I'll retest my FC/CC/CYA before adding more bleach...

CYA 70 was this morning. I didn't even consider ammonia....looks like I really botched this up.

I don't test CYA that regularly (which will obviously change after this) and didn't realize it was so low until I tested it this past weekend. I simply added what the pool calculator told me to and we're back to 70.

Thanks for the feedback... We have an auto cover and keep it closed at night and when not in use. The pool has been open all weekend, except at night. Unfortunately, the bleach around here is 6% which means I using more of it. Every time I test, I add whatever the pool math calculator tells...
