    Growth on tiles

Hi, I have some growth on the tiles under and around where the water feature is. It appears to be some type of calcium buildup. I’ve tried scrubbing with a little acid but didn’t seem to remove much. Any idea what this is and how I can get rid of it? Thanks!

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Hey, Guys, I continue to hear complaints about peoples eyes burning after using the pool. My PH levels are always around 7.5-7.8 max, so I'm wondering if something else might be causing this. Any thoughts? Here are my latest complete test results as of Friday FC- 8 CC - 0 PH - 7.7 TA -80 CH...

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Thanks! I just ordered the Taylor kit. The kids had a blast today, but some were complaining about their eyes toward the end of the day, probably related to the higher salt levels. I'll have to backwash a few times and top off to see if I can bring the salt levels down a bit.

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Good morning! This morning I noticed my SWG flashing the "High Salt" warning. The light flashed before about a week or two ago, and then it stopped blinking without me having to change anything. (It did rain, however) In addition to the high salt warning, I've noticed that my PH level is...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Thanks again, @MKNAUSS! I think the builder is saying the IC20 is sized properly because they are saying to keep FC between 1-3ppm. At 60% for 12hours a day, that should produce 1.44PPM. In my situation, I want to maintain between 3-5PPM (More like 7ppm to keep a target of 5pPM) . If I...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Thanks, @mknauss! I've heard from others that the IC20 is undersized. I brought this up to my pool builder, and they told me that it's rated for pools up to 20k gallons (which mine is below.) I've been recording my FC levels the past few days, and even with minimal use, I'm finding I need to...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Hey, Guys, I had a quick question about the best way to maintain the pool after a heavier than normal usage (13 swimmers vs. 4) The day started off with the following test results: FC - 2.5 - (Added almost 4 cups of additional chlorine this morning) CC - 0 PH - 7.8 (Added 20oz of muriatic acid...

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Quick update. OCLT was less than 1PPM so the water should be in good shape! Next step, slowly increase CYA.

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Re: SLAM and OCLT question Thanks for the quick reply Tim! So am I correct in assuming that a SLAM process should span a minimum of 24 hours at shock level and that OCLT should be measured during the SLAM process at high FC levels? If so, wouldn't FC levels stay at shock level (or close to...

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

SLAM and OCLT question Hey, Guys, My pool has finally recovered from a chemistry nightmare; however, I don't think I'm out of the water yet. Before I got my TFP test kit, I was shocked to find that the pool had 0 FC when I took a water sample to the pool store. I was relying on my SWG to...

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Hey, Guys! The test kit came in! I've been adding chlorine daily while I waited, and was taking my test results to the store for testing. I was planning on following the SLAM process today since I knew the kit was going to arrive this afternoon, so I added 1 3/4 gal of chlorine based on the...

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Thanks, Guys! I'll hang tight until my TF Kit comes in. Until then, I'll add a gallon of bleach every day.

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Hi, Everyone! I have just ordered my TF test kit, and it should arrive in a few days. Since I don't have that yet, I am relying on the pool stores water test results. I recently had a huge pool party, and since then the pool water was turning a slight green color and was extremely cloudy...
