Remind me why I want to go up to 7.6 PH

I’m not sure I understand why I would want to go up. TA is 60, PH is now 7.5 I was away for the weekend and had a little algae growth I vacuumed out to waste. I added about 20 ounces of muriatic acid yesterday. Shouldn’t I maintain this PH or even go to 7.2 to help with sanitation?

His friend is using his TFT kit. No strips here sir. :)

Thanks @Newdude , see my edit :). If he's using trichlor, and only about 10 pucks on this fill- he probably has next to no CYA- only about 8 ppm.

Thanks @Sunnydaze . Says he has put in 10 total in maybe two weeks. Wouldn't you think he would at least have 20 or so CYA? Can we support, if one already owns the product, adding enough tablets to raise the CYA to 50 or 60? That would be 10 tablets or so at once. Actually, I just found...

Trying to help, from a distance, an intex owner.

He has a 15’ round pool. He opened it and is telling me he’s putting in those small 1” tricolor tablets from HTH. I’m trying to get him to return the unopened ones and go chlorine. Thing is, he has used some chlorine (10%) in addition to the tablets every other day and has NO Chlorine or CYA...

How do pool stores test everything with that machine?

I used to buy whatever was at Lowes or Walmart. Sometimes I know Walmart had the Clorox brand. Last purchase was the pool store brand.

Lexington, KY... very south of there.

How do pool stores test everything with that machine?

Haha, you sir- must live near a home depot. I... after already investing heavily in Ryobi Tools sold at Home Depot- 13 pieces to be exact- and that 100 mah electric riding mower..... I have moved to an area that is about 55 minutes away from home depot :(. Seriously, Walmart and Lowes out in my...

How do pool stores test everything with that machine?

I've been back to a pool store 30 miles away, twice now this summer- for them to test my salt and also to buy it as we were out in my town. We've had tons of rain like, well- some people. I need to get a "salt meter" and be done with them, I have the large TFP test kit and do all other...

Thanks TFTestKits, just got my stuff

Pool Thanks for the tips all. Will leave CYA alone and lower PH. And SLAM. The picture link looks much better than it did.

Thanks TFTestKits, just got my stuff

So here's my results, my pool was mostly green last week as I was fighting with high PH. I think I have it under control. It's grey and cloudy, I can see the last remnants of an algae center to vacuum out to waste. FC is high because I've added a gallon of chlorine each day while I waited on...

    4 weeks in

Thanks! It sounds like there's some information on the website that I couldn't get from reading the manual, and I was reading the manual online, but I downloaded it from another source. It does seem problematic with the limited amount of chlorine it will generate. I'm going to have to give...

Just moved and installed a new pool and I'm a little unfamiliar with the Saltron Retro system; but it can't be that much different than others in principle. FC:5.5 PH: 7.8 TA:110 CYA:70 I know how to adjust the PH and TA, but I was curious what the forums thoughts were on the FC of 5.5. I think...

    Still cloudy water

Funny lesson learned here: I watched the gauge as I put in the cellular fiber stuff. The needle never moved. So I kept adding. One day later the water was barely coming through the return. I think the Intex gauge is not as robust as a normal gauge. It just has marks on the green...

Thanks, my question is around my experience that vacuuming to filter seems to just push it back into the pool. Isn't algae to fine for sand to pick up? But maybe DE will catch it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Still cloudy water

I've been going at this for about 2 weeks solid it seems. SLAMMING that is. Have I been checking it every two hours? No- but definitely at night and for the last two days every four hours at least. Here's some good photos of what I have this morning. Yesterday I added about chlorine as...

You raise an excellent point. I use the iPhone app for pool calculator and even though it asks for the input info for your goals - BBB or TFP, it still says 3 for the goal on FC- it doesn't seem to change. Either way- this pool water ain't went below 7 ppm in days and has been topped off to...

    Still cloudy water

Last week cloudy- this week green. HELP. I left town for two days- but my wife topped the chlorine off to 3 ppm each night. I completed the SLAM per the instructions. When I came home I brushed the pool because it looked like algae starting to form. I vacuumed to waste. Next morning...

On the subject of DE, is there a place that sells a small bag. Seems like it is 20-25 bucks for a $25.00 bag or Leslie's as an alternative- still around 20 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you! If I may ask another question here- I notice with this Intex equipment (and honestly I can't remember from the other pools) then when I backwash and rinse some sand always shoots back through the return. Is this normal? Very annoying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for sending that link folks. I'm five years into my troublefreepool.com forum membership; so I have definitely refered to that link. However if I may comment- finding that particular link does seem quite difficult when only using the Tapatalk IOS app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
