Tip: MA to reduce TA, aerating to increase PH

Yeah good point. I'm lowering TA with muriatic acid and I counter the lowering of the PH with aeration.

Tip: MA to reduce TA, aerating to increase PH

I did a homegrown contraption a few years ago that connected some tubing into a return that I hooked up in a waterfall like arrangement. It worked okay but was pretty janky as a method to get the PH back up through aeration. Needed to reduce TA from 100 to 60-70 before I add borates to my pool...

[WIP] pH "detector/estimator" via computer vision

I always thought that the cya test could easily be estimated with computer vision. That should lend itself to a cell phone app given how simple the cv problem is. I think your ph approach should work well since you are not really busy looking for a color but the relationship of a color to...

Interesting problem, loosing CYA but nothing else

I test my FC several times a week. I do the full titration test every couple of weeks. A month ago I had CYA of 50 and 4000 salt. Today I have 30 cya and 4000 salt. I can't imagine I have a leak (I use a water alarm called flume to alert me for leaks and I have seen nothing that can explain...

Is CH the same as water hardness?

This q is a bit off the left field..? I got a new dishwasher. It has a built-in water softener function. The manual states that I should program the incoming water hardness into the dishwasher (expressed as °E) and it will adjust the water softener for my water. My water company has a report...

I'm not in a rush, just want to make sure i don't cause any damage.

    too low PH?

Hi all, i was out for a while over christmas and my pool ph got a bit high while the ph got too low (the SWG shutdown due to cold water) . I added liquid chlorine and got the FC to 6 which i'm happy with. However, i was a bit braindead and added 0.5 gallons too much muriatic acid. My PH is 7.0...

Some advice: Don't buy anything from WaterGuru

Mine has worked remarkably well. I'm on my third cartridge of tests. I check every week or two vs the Taylor strips and they do far largely has agreed with each other. The company sucks a bit though😂 I sent them the water sample and they they never returned the analysis. I know it reached them...

    WaterGuru Setup - New Owner

I'm honestly not sure if it does, I personally like the idea of having a log of changes that doesn't require much effort. I'm trying to make that automatic so I only need to do anything manually at a frequency less often than weekly. Monthly would be great with me.

    WaterGuru Setup - New Owner

Well put. I use it more to track changes than it's absolute readings. I'm mostly interested in unexpected and rapid changes in pH or FC. For the absolute readings I'll do the Taylor tests.

Lowering TA, How long should i aerate?

Thanks all, this is what I was looking for. A rough estimate on time based on real world experiences. I want to make sure I budget my time correctly and if it's going to take many days. Given the experiences shared I think I'll route the air hoses under my pool cover so I can run it while the...

Lowering TA, How long should i aerate?

My PH has been raising pretty quickly so i decided to lower my TA. When i started i had TA of 160 and a PH of 8.1. I added muratic acid in my pool until PH reached 7.0. I did this in increments, ran the pump and tested again (my journey was 7.7, 7.4, 7.0 over two days). I was worried about...

    WaterGuru Setup - New Owner

I'm about two weeks into my experience with Waterguru. The setup was fine (i am on android). I did not attempt to setup the pool on a PC first. I tested vs. the taylor drip test several times over the past weeks for TA and FC (i also did PH but i generally rely on an apera probe that i...

    WaterGuru Sense Test v. TF-100

I know this is an old thread but I take it that the consensus is that this device is something I should pass on?

First time with tf100, sanity check wanted!

I'm definitely getting the swcg. I asked the pool company for a quote, but it was 3x what I can buy it for. And he still wanted labor charges to install it... I'm hesitant to install the swcg myself. My brother could help me but with covid he can't easily come to me, he is 2 states away from me.

First time with tf100, sanity check wanted!

Hi all, I just tested my pool. I should also say that I had the tree trimmers at my house yesterday and a very large oak tree next to the pool got a heavy trimming. I turned off the pool pump for most of the day yesterday, and once they where done I took off the stuff that floated and started...

First time with tf100, sanity check wanted!

I'm going to redo all of the tests including the cya number tomorrow. It's probably the one I'm the least comfortable that I got right. I did the wet towel on the dripper before each drop. But I'll try again. I just bought the house with the pool. Previous owner used a pool company, I decided...

First time with tf100, sanity check wanted!

Hi all, I just got my tf1000 test kit. I think I did every test correctly. The water temperature recorded using a science temp probe of the sample water. What do you think of these results and how I should interprete them? Do the result look reasonable to you? Btw I used the poolmath app...

    Newbie, have a question

You're correct on SWG. So just go by eyesight to gauge water clarity? I have an automatic cover on top of the pool. does this mean i can reduce the time i run the pump since the cover prevents much of the organic stuff from coming into the pool? Any rule of thumb on this?

    Newbie, have a question

So i get the point about testing pool chemistry. This question came about after i was calculating Motor RPM, GPH flow to the pool and how much i should run the pump daily. My question is, is there a test that can be done that tests the water for if i have run the pump long enough to filter the...
