    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

I bumped CYA by 10. This actually seems to have helped quite a bit after a week or two of observation. I am thinking my CYa was lower than I thought. Seems weird. The CYA test seems like it would be easier to mistake a higher reading than it would be to mistake a lower reading. I could not...

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

The lab test did come Back with phosphates at about 940PPM. I know that shouldnt matter if I keep chlorine in check but is it Possible that it would increase chlorine demand?

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

@Newdude I dont use a solar cover this time of year. water typically stays at 82 without it. We have a darker liner which I think contributes to higher temps overall and some localized higher temps by the liner that I suspect may also increase chlorine demand. I have done the OCLT a few times...

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

I had it all through May and June. Although during those months I get a ton of tree pollen

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

@Newdude Thanks. I know what your saying. Do you also agree that 3.5-4 ppm per day is normal for a sunny day with an average amount of swimming? @mknauss it is a k-2006 test kit. I got a large bottle of the CYA reagent since I do the test often because I always question the results.

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

So I guess the question is still whether or not I trust my testing vs Water Guru lab testing.

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

Really? Even in Michigan? Why do I feel like I am using twice as much chlorine as everyone else I ever talk to? It’s about 3.5-4 gallons per week for an 18,000 gallon pool. Are there any other reliable CYA tests that are easier to interpret?

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

I think part of me really wants the lab results to be right so I can end this crazy 3.5-4 PPM per day chlorine usage that I have always had with this pool.

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

I have not. I did compare with results on my brother in laws pool when going from CYA 0 up to 40 with the PoolMath calculated additions.

    CYA results from WaterGuru TEST

Just a quick intro. I have had WaterGuru for a little over a month now. Seems consistent enough to help me increase the interval in which I use my FAS-DPD test for Chlorine. I sent in the TEST lab sample right after I got it and just got the results back. Everything looks to be similar to...

    Waterguru Inaccurate Readings

Wondering if you got any response from them? I just got mine and I am. Pricing some inconsistency as well. Might be a little early to judge though. Also, have you noticed that if you do a manual reading you can’t go back and see other previous readings for the day?

    Inconsistency with FAS-DPD test

I thought there was static buildup that could affect the drop size?

    Inconsistency with FAS-DPD test

Has anyone every tested the same sample of water multiple times and gotten very sporadic results? I just did the test on the same sample of water 30 minutes apart and my first test was 20 drops and the second was 25. I am a pretty good about rinsing the tube, precise fill levels and wiping the...

    Chlorine usage high. Again

I have a Intelliflo VS so I have variable speed settings throughout the day. I do about 2.5 pool turnovers per day. The pump is completely off from 11PM till 7AM.

    Chlorine usage high. Again

Yes. twice a day about 7 minutes of runtime each time.

    Chlorine usage high. Again

I don't know how to confirm that. I have done a FC test before and after adding a measured dosage and verified the FC increase was on par with what Pool Math says it should be. The chlorine does sit in a translucent Pentair dosing tank throughout the week (4 gallon capacity) and it is exposed...

    Chlorine usage high. Again

Thanks guys. My pool does get a lot of sun and this time of year I don't have a solar cover on it (if that blocks UV). Should I be concerned with the OCLT loss of .8 the last time I did it? I also wonder if my darker liner has anything to do with burning off chlorine quicker. Higher temps...

    Chlorine usage high. Again

it’s been about a month since the last OCLT. I think I lost around .8 PPM overnight. I really don’t have a lot of spots for organics to hide. Just the 2 main drain covers maybe? Could algae under those really use up that much chlorine in 1 day though? I can check them. Not sure if the covers...

    Chlorine usage high. Again

How would that lower my additions? Doesn’t higher CYA protect it from being used by the sun?

    Chlorine usage high. Again

Okay... I have posted about this before but now I am calculating my chlorine usage at about 4.1 PPM per day. I go through just over 4 gallons of 12.5% per week! This just seems really high to me. I passed the overnight loss test and CYA is at 50 so what’s the deal? I see people at the pool...

    Chlorine from dosing tank

I had another post with concerns that my daily chlorine usage seems way too high, but I guess I may just be at the high end of normal based on responses to that post. To maintain my levels I have to add about 4 PPM per day. That got me thinking. I have a pentair dosing tank that is somewhat...

    Chlorine loss per day?

Thanks guys. It just seems like I keep having to increase my chlorine pump run time to keep up compared to last year. Also, last year my CYA was 30 and I upped it to 50 this year in hopes it would slow down the usage rate.

    Chlorine loss per day?

I know this is very dependent on location, bather load, etc but I am wondering how much chlorine loss you all see on an average day. Not sure what a good universal measurement would be for that. Maybe how many PPM you add per day? Or ounces of liquid added per 10,000 gallons? I seem to lose...

Calcium Hardness, vinyl liner, saturation index, gas heater

I see a lot of posts and recommendations on here that say CH levels do not matter in vinyl liner pools. I understand that it will not affect the liner itself. I am curious though about the effects of a low saturation index on pool heater exchangers and cement pool decks. Many other sites...

    Some questions /thoughts about CYA

I have the PoolMath app on my phone. With CYA at 50 it shows a target of 4.0-8.0 That app was developed from someone here right? Are you saying a target of 8 because you like to keep it at the higher end of the recommended range? Should I aim for 8 when adding chlorine so that during the day...

    Some questions /thoughts about CYA

So my pool just started getting cloudy yesterday which I assume was an algae bloom since all my other levels seem to be in check. It was a surprise to me because I thought my CYA was around 35-40 and I haven't let the FC go below 3. That got me questioning my CYA levels again. Cue the super...

Big differences between test kits. Confused

Got my Taylor K-2006 kit today. I am pretty amazed at how easy it is to decipher the results. FC: 3.6 CC: 0 PH: 7.4 TA: 130 CH: 150 CYA: 35 Not bad so far huh? Maybe bump up my PH to 7.6 and FC to about 4? In any case it amazes me how far off the PH reading was from the pool...

Big differences between test kits. Confused

Ok. I got a new kit on order. I just shocked the pool for the heck of it with a pack of cal hypo that came with the pool. Dip strips showed a difference but the pool master drip kit show absolutely no change. Still showing 2 ppm. I Wonder why the kit got such good reviews.

Big differences between test kits. Confused

Before I joined this forum I ordered a drip test kit from Amazon Poolmaster 22270. It seems to have really good reviews and the results are pretty easy to read. However, I have 3 different dip kits and results from tests at Pools Plus that all seem to disagree with each other when testing PH...
