@Newdude I dont use a solar cover this time of year. water typically stays at 82 without it. We have a darker liner which I think contributes to higher temps overall and some localized higher temps by the liner that I suspect may also increase chlorine demand. I have done the OCLT a few times...

@Newdude Thanks. I know what your saying. Do you also agree that 3.5-4 ppm per day is normal for a sunny day with an average amount of swimming? @mknauss it is a k-2006 test kit. I got a large bottle of the CYA reagent since I do the test often because I always question the results.

So I guess the question is still whether or not I trust my testing vs Water Guru lab testing.

Really? Even in Michigan? Why do I feel like I am using twice as much chlorine as everyone else I ever talk to? It’s about 3.5-4 gallons per week for an 18,000 gallon pool. Are there any other reliable CYA tests that are easier to interpret?

I think part of me really wants the lab results to be right so I can end this crazy 3.5-4 PPM per day chlorine usage that I have always had with this pool.

I have not. I did compare with results on my brother in laws pool when going from CYA 0 up to 40 with the PoolMath calculated additions.

Ok. I got a new kit on order. I just shocked the pool for the heck of it with a pack of cal hypo that came with the pool. Dip strips showed a difference but the pool master drip kit show absolutely no change. Still showing 2 ppm. I Wonder why the kit got such good reviews.
