Opening this weekend. How much of what do I need?

Planning to open the pool this weekend. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, I am trying to prevent needing to run out multiple times over the weekend/first few days to get more supplies with stores varying hours/closures and the big box stores (walmart) being way to packed at all times with...

New pail of powdered shock is hard as concrete - should I return it to the store

Beware, some places will not let you bring it back. I would call to check. I have seen people bring it back to a store and the store refuses to take it back because its considered hazardous and they longer can be certain of the chemistry since it has been removed and opened.

    Rough new plaster from winter

Should I keep the levels as they are now or should I adjust them based on the current water temp to get them to a -0.6 CSI?

    Rough new plaster from winter

I have a Dolphin S-200. I am just worrying I am wasting my time and effort if the end result is still going to be an acid wash. Test Results last night were: FC-5 pH-7.2 TA-50 CH-300 CYA-40 Temp-45

    Rough new plaster from winter

I opened the pool this past weekend (water is crystal clear already) and have so far lowered the pH to 7.2, removed a lot of sediment (turns out that is all of the red in the pool), and been brushing a lot (everytime I brush more sediment gets suspended in the water). The plaster is still very...

your recommendation on Power Powder from Leslie

I think d and b is opened on saturdays too. Another option for the liquid chlorine is Sahara pools on 22. Not as far out at ocean state. Not sure their price tho

your recommendation on Power Powder from Leslie

I see you are out in Branchburg, NJ. I am nearby you. I usually get all of my liquid chlorine from Ocean State Job Lots out in Clinton on Route 31. $2.99 per gallon for 12.5% there. I just picked up a bunch on Tuesday with the 25% promotion they were running. Otherwise try DB pools in Raritan...

    Rough new plaster from winter

I am hesitant to open the pool so early as there are still nights with expected freezing temperatures in our area. Prior to getting the pool replastered I typically did not open it until basically the first weekend of May. I was opening to wait another 3-4 weeks at the earliest. Is that a bad...

    Rough new plaster from winter

Attach is a picture I just took of the second step where I wiped away what seems to be the dirt. I did it first with my hand which it was pretty rough but most of the dirt left but then I did it with a brush which took some of the roughness away but nowhere near a smooth as the top step which is...

    Rough new plaster from winter

I drained my pool a few inches below the tiles and closed the pool with a mostly solid cover with a mesh opening in the middle. I have had a pump under the cover to keep the water level from getting to high. I opened the cover a bit today to take a look and notice a reddish tint on all of the...

Peeked under Cover and "bath tub ring"

I drained my pool a few inches below the tiles and closed the pool with a mostly solid cover with a mesh opening in the middle. I have had a pump under the cover to keep the water level from getting to high. I peeked under the cover this weekend and noticed a bath tub line around the pool. I am...

    Using dolphin while closed

I had my plaster redone this summer and when I closed a few weeks ago I was adding acid once a week or so. I drAined the pool down about 6 inches below the tile line. Are there any issues with add acid and running my dolphin once a week or every other week when acid is added to mix it up since...

Mesh vs Solid for snowy winters

I am in the third summer, entering the third winter, in my house and have had an old school tarp/waterbag winter cover the first year, a mesh safety cover last year, and just bought a solid safety cover for this coming year. I went with the mesh safety cover and opened with clear water but very...

Stopping Leaves and Debris from going under cover

Hello, I switched from a tarp/water bag cover last winter to a mesh safety cover this past winter. With the tarp I wouldn't get leaves or other debris in the pool but this past winter with the mesh safety cover, leaves and other large debris blew under the sides into the pool. Also this still...
