After slam when will PH normalize?

How long have you had your pool? How often in the past do you add MA? Is your additions of MA consistent? Some TFPers pH is stable and they hardly add MA. In my case, my pH rises over 4 or 5 days and and I add MA on a consistent basis. Each pool is different.

    Solo Closing

I am so sorry for your loss. With you taking care of the pool and all, great job!

    Solo Closing

Nice job! Out here in Las Vegas, I don't have to close. Curious how cold was the water? When was the last time you were in the pool?

    Long-term pool close?

I have no experience in closing pools for the winter in areas that get freezing temps. So what I am positing is just something I can come up with. Although, San Diego has a mild “beautiful” year round weather, emptying/draining your pool, blowing out and capping all plumbing lines...

3 week SLAM crystal clear water but FC loss where??

How are you testing? Your signature indicates you are using “pool store testing”. Do you have one of the recommended test kits, TF-100 from tftestkits.net or a Taylor K-2006C?

Waiting for a replacement autocover, what to do?

Welcome to TFP! Sorry we met this way. I do have an autocover. Recently, the stainless steel cable snapped when the cover was 2/3 of the way open. When the techs came, is when it was discovered the cable snapped. Of course they’d have to order the new cable. I insisted they manually...

Is your neighbor also on TFP?

Took Pool Cover Off to black water..help

Welcome to TFP! I can sympathize with your statement above. I have a question, how much did the free pool water test cost you in buying what the pool store advised you to put into the pool to clear it up? The cost of one of the recommended test kits, is/would have been less expensive...

Bought House Has Pool Issues Leaks

Welcome to TFP! Sorry this is the situation you are facing. I am no real estate agent. Obviously, the deal has closed. However, what was the actual pool contingency language? Have you contacted your agent to discuss your options? Now on to the pool. Have you determined how much water...

    Leftover liquid chlorine.

Does your closing company itemize? If so, it would be easy to specify don't add chems and if you do I won't pay from them. If it is a flat closing fee including chems, then discussing prior is very important.

Weird numbers at closing this year

What is your water temp and overnight air temps? I ask because I have always lived in the southwest were we don't close our pools, just stop swimming when the water gets into the 70's.

    Cloudy brown water

The swim season is already shortening as we move closer to the end of July. If water is rather inexpensive and you have no restrictions on water use, I would drain and refill. If you have any landscape drainage issues, meaning heavy rains that overflow into the pool, I would rectify those...

    Cloudy brown water

You had your water tested twice at the Pool Store. Did the report come back with Iron? How well do you think that leaves or other possible organics could still be in the water? Adding 6 lbs of stabilizer to 27k gallons will raise CYA 27 ppm. That would be 30 since we round up. Have you been...

Is it too cold to start SLAM?

What works for me and the CYA test, take a water sample from the pool and bring into the house. First test CYA by pouring the sample pool water into the CYA test bottle to the first line. Cap it then put it into your pocket and perform the other pool water tests. By the time you have...

Treating pool in between last swim and closing

I live in Las Vegas, we don’t close our pools. But you still have to chlorinate/sanitize the water until you close your pool so it doesn’t turn green. I read here somewhere, “a pool is like a pet, you may not play with it everyday but you still have to feed it.”

    First settings for SWG

You might be able to use 2 hoses. Don't you have a hose bib out front and one in the backyard? Run both with hoses to the pool. If you don't have hose(s), either ask a neighbor if you feel comfortable asking or go buy a hose that will go from the front to the pool. Just a thought.

Opened today! Nice green pool 🤣

TFP‘ers don’t even flinch. I can’t imagine how someone that doesn’t use tfpc would react? Or worse how much they would spend at a pool store?

Now that Labour day is upon us....

I feel just a little guilty writing this comment. Here in Southern California, we don't close our pools. My water temp is 80F (26C). It will probably get up to 82F by 2:00 p.m. pacific time later today. We can probably swim into October. But that is why I live in Southern California.

    First time opening my AGP.

Hi Rich, Your signature doesn’t indicate how you are testing your pool water chemistry. Are you using either the TF100 or Taylor K-2006C test kits? Post your current chemistry results and it will be easier to provide assistance.
