Seems to me that high speed would do a better job of cleaning the grids. Our pool has a 2.5 HP High Head Challenger pump and it cleans out the DE filter quite nicely. 8)

I'm just north of Austin and my pool is spotless (and COLD!). :shock: I cut back the pump run time from my summer setting of 8 hours per day to around 4 hours per day. My Polaris also runs for an hour each day. I just leave it in the pool all the time and clean the filter bag when required.

It's even cheaper to buy new ones NOW and leave them in the packages until next spring. Walmart, Target, etc. have their pool toys on clearance right now to make way for the Christmas stuff. 8)

We've already had a couple of days in the mid-90's here. :shock: The pool only got up to 78, which is still a tad on the cool side for me, but my kids have already been swimming for a couple of months this year. 8)
