Clarification on SPA mode, Pool mode and Spillway mode

All clear thank you. About to start the project. To achieve what I mention above (and I copy below for your convenience) I need a SINGLE 3-way diverter valve (with a valve actuator screwed top for automation control), not two of them correct? When I spoke to a contractor about only having a...

Clarification on SPA mode, Pool mode and Spillway mode

Thank you Ajw for the valves, all clear. I still have a questions. Jim says "In the Pool mode, there is almost always a spillover unless you turn it off. This spillover is due to either a make-up valve which by passes the Return valve and allows some water to go to the spa, or the Return valve...

Clarification on SPA mode, Pool mode and Spillway mode

Thank you, all clear. As for the valves, I meant what is the name of the valves? Check valves? Y-Check valves? Automation check valve? Any link to one of them please?

Clarification on SPA mode, Pool mode and Spillway mode

By reading a bunch of old posts I see that in a pool-spa system there is a return valve and a suction valve. Actuators of valves can only have two positions, pool mode (spa pipe is closed, pool is open), and spa mode (vice versa). Therefore: In the Omnilogic Pool mode all the water gets sucked...

Hayward Universal HC Series Model HDF400 Pool Heater - A2 and A1 Error Codes

Hi did you guys end up fixing this? If yes how? I am getting 1 installed next month and I was curious. @sonnaps, how many gallons in your pool? 1 deg every half an hour is pretty good. Where do you live?

What is priming exactly? And can it be removed? Priming makes my pump draw air when skimming

If you have any better suggestions for dealing with the leak...please let me know. They mentioned epoxy, they can do that for a few hundreds, or they said I can do it myself, but they said the problem might come back in 1-2 years. And that it is esthetically bad, you see this paste between the...

What is priming exactly? And can it be removed? Priming makes my pump draw air when skimming

Thank you very much guys. Jimrahbe the leak is at the tile line 100% sure (bottom of tiles, I was right there when American Leak detection guys did the dye test, I saw the dye slowly entering the wall right at the bottom of the tiles). No leak at the skimmer. As I wrote in my first post, if I...

Optimal (indicative) pump speed and hours per day for a 21,000 gallon pool

Thank you very much. So there is not a math formula that gives you the pump speed that minimizes costs and gives you good water quality on average conditions for my North Florida Gainesville climate? I would aspect that there is a number based on the #of gallons in the pool, climate and average...

Optimal (indicative) pump speed and hours per day for a 21,000 gallon pool

Thank you very much, appreciated. DIY it is something I would love to do when I get promoted to a permanent working position (in 1 year). Now I just don't have the time for pool maintenance I need to focus on my job. I just need an easy fix that leaves the pool in a decent state and consumes as...

What is priming exactly? And can it be removed? Priming makes my pump draw air when skimming

Of course I can, but I am to busy with work to be there all the times and switch settings, I want it to be automatic. I am paying the maintenance company 180$ per month not to have to deal with the pool. And paying $5000 to fix the invisible leak is way too much, pool is fine the way it is...

What is priming exactly? And can it be removed? Priming makes my pump draw air when skimming

I cant prime at those values. Any speed above 1200-1400 draws air. But what is priming exactly? Why does it need to prime? And why it will never prime at low speed, not even for a longer time? What is the physical reason for which a pump running for half an hour or more at 1200 rpm would not...

Optimal (indicative) pump speed and hours per day for a 21,000 gallon pool

I do not chlorinate. The maintenance team does it. What should I ask them? I know nothing about chlorinating. As for skimming, I have an enclosure, so floating objects are not too much of an issue, although I would like to have some skimming going on. I noticed that by skimming for 2-3 hour at...

What is priming exactly? And can it be removed? Priming makes my pump draw air when skimming

I own a Hayward variable speed pump. Can you please explain to me how exactly priming works, I mean the technical details of the priming procedure ( I am an engineer, just not this field, you can go very technical). I guess it is somehow removing the air and building up pressure? Could priming...

Optimal (indicative) pump speed and hours per day for a 21,000 gallon pool

I live in Florida, Gainesville. What is the pump speed and the number of hours per day that I have to Hayward variable speed pump on to save money and still have the pool clean? I guess it varies between summer, winter and spring/fall, but if there was some tool to compute the average values and...

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Ok guys thank you again for your help. I was able after more trial and error to make the filter system cover to close evenly. There is still a little gap but at least it is even all the way around it, see picture below, and compare it with the one above. Could any of you please send me a picture...

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Yes I meant that, the rod is tightened at the bottom, and its top wiggles, it can move in all directions of a radius of 1 inch I would say. I will check my O ring.

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Good. I put everything back. The E-ring turned out just dirty not rusty after some cleaning it got perfect. USed some bike lube for now (wet and dry conditions). Two things, not sure if they are issues: 1) I screwed the rod back in as tight as possible by hand, then pretty tighter with a...

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Thank you! Which brand? Is this good? Amazon.com : 4oz Lube Tube - Pool Gasket Lubricant : Swimming Pool Pump Parts : Garden & Outdoor It takes 8 days to get here, similar for E ring. Can I just spray WD40 for now and when I get the lube and E-ring do the work? I dont go shopping in stores...

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Hi guys, I took the rod out by holding it with a wrench! Easy! See the pictures below. The rod and its threads on the knob side seem fine to me, see picture below. Just a bit drier than the other end (picture above) but it seems fine to me. I was thinking to just spray some WD40: The questions...

Hayward filter system: metal rod got stuck on the lid and came out. Pool maintenance said its ~$750 either to fix it or replace it

Dear all, I am new to this forum, I am really impressed to see how many people here share the passion for pools and share their knowledge to help each other. I have a Hayward filter system. The label says MD C12002. Today the pool maintenance lady tried to unscrew the knob to change the filter...
