Help me help my brother in law please

In North Texas freeze and his pump pressure is way down. Reading 3 when it's normally 15. His push pull valve has a leak and is frozen. See pics. Pump appears to be running normally. He's wondering if he should shut it all down. Thoughts please?

    Proper pump for sheers

Very good point. Hadn't thought it quite through in that regard. I guess what I really need to do is understand how to winterize them. Winterizing isn't something we have ever done. Point of fact is, they probably get 75+ of their annual runtime when in running freeze protect.

    Proper pump for sheers

Hello all ~ We renovated in 2017 and added 3 16" sheer descents driven by a Pentair WhisperFlow 1.5hp. Is there a more appropriate pump to use for this function? Can/should they use a VSP? Since the remodel, we have switched to VS filter pump and its electric usage is miniscule. Would like...

Does anybody make a skimmer basket that lasts?

I keep a supply of wooden dowels. Drilled out the broken plastic nib and jam in the dowels. Requires replacement over time but is easy to do. Baskets going on 6 or 7 years in that fashion.

    Mounting pump on a riser?

New Intelliflo3 no power with voltage

I ordered the very same pump from Polytec. First pump came to the house and I refused delivery as the box was badly beat up. Replacement came and again the box was badly beat up; refused delivery. Was about to cut'n'run after the second, but talked with Polytec again and they used a...

    Backwash line

Thanks for the thoughts y'all. I recall the brass fitting as being described as a vacuum break to aid in draining. (looks like a fitting I had on a sprinkler line at one time) Prior to this work being done, there was nothing like that present, no sight glass nor clean out. The slide valve is...

    Backwash line

Had some work done that included a new backwash line. Noticed that it was travelling uphill from the bottom of the slide valve to where it 90s to the outlet to the sewer. Should I be concerned? Freezing temperatures seems to be a potential issue. TIA

    IntelliFlo3 intake height

I had a new pad poured and needed to try retrofit the pump install to fit the existing intake piping. I need about a 1.25 to 1.5 'something' for the pump to rest on. It is currently on a spare piece of bluestone that I had for the walkway. Can anyone recommend something a bit more permanent...

    Equipment Updates ~ Pentair

Thanks ajw. I also have an open 40amp breaker in the main. Will that also work? Not sure what wire gauge is currently being used. But I suspect there is better shot at the currently used wire gauge being OK for 40 vs 50amp breaker. I should also say I am not doing this myself. Just want to...

    Capacitor belly-up

My filter pump wasn't running this morning and I think the capacitor is bad. I have a spare that was intended for a booster pump that was abandoned. Can I use this spare to replace the filter pump capacitor that went belly-up? The one that went belly-up is on the left. TIA

Stenner liquid chlorine pump - How to choose and install

In Plano too. We have the leaves and flowers as well. I'm currently dosing 10min @ 0930 and 10min @ 2030, 44.45 oz x 2. I've had to clean the injector point a couple of times and replace the rollers/pump-tube once since installing the Stenner in May of 2019.

DE Stainless Steel Filter clamps leaking

I have a NS-48 filter that was original to the house when we moved in in 1995. The pool was built in 1982. I suspect the filter is at least that old. I have purchased a filter clamp, and o-ring, in the past that has springs as noted in an earlier reply. Its still going strong.

Is Check Valve needed before Stenner?

Fired up for the first time after the Polar Vortex last week and I have a cracked check value between heater and Stenner injection port that needs replaced or removed. It was in place because the current injection point used to be a puck feeder. Can I just eliminate the check value? TIA b

    Intermatic PF1103T

Anyone have any experience with this timer? Its managing our sheer descents pump. Sometimes, really usually, when manually turning them on, it takes more than one backward turn of the trigger. Wondering if that is normal or the sign of problems?
