Is my pump on it's way out?

I'm not so sure that's really the case. I have a 2 speed pump that starts on low every day and works quite well. I never lose prime unless I pull the pump basket lid. If your system doesn't lose prime from a suction leak, there's no need to prime it ever. If you lose prime of course the half...

Clear water but looks like pond foam - is it the filter?

How's your CH levels? Sometimes foaming can be mitigated with calcium .....at least 50 ppm on the ch test might clear that up. Worth a look. But I don't know why it's all brown like that, unless it's just dirty from winter time winds/dirt getting in.

Old pool that came with the house, very frustrated, I was unable to clear the pool all summer, about ready to drain and gut everything.

It almost sounds like another really long slam someone dealt with. The issue ended up being play sand in the filter, not pool filtering sand. It cleared up very quickly once the proper sand was installed. Thinking out loud. It may or may not be the cause. Worth considering.

Something on filter sucking air after backwash

Hmm replacing sand wouldn't really have any affect on that. More likely the removal of the multiport and putting it back together did that.. I have that same multiport valve. You should probably replace it if a new seal doesn't do. Mine had developed a hair line fracture and needed replacing.

    Leak at heater

I had a leak just like that on the suction side too. The repair tech said there was no glue in my case. Hard to believe but true. Might just need some new pipe glue.

Filter sand being shot into pool

You can re use the sand you have. It doesn't wear out at all. Good time for a deep clean, probably. But replacing it won't make any difference.

Cloud of dirt from returns for 5-10 seconds at pump startup

I had this happen once. It was actually sand. I had a suction side leak and lost prime every day. By the time the pump primed and starts moving water a bit of sand would belch out. Fixing the suction leak made that stop. I think one of the laterals was fractured though. It only spit some...

    Skimmer efficiency

If you can point the jets in such a way that it encourages a circular movement on the surface, that should help. One direction may be more effective than another

Replacing Single Speed Pump - VS or 2-Speed based on Needs

I'm happy w my 2 speed. 1 skimmer, 2 returns. I would have to replumb to get a vs to fit so that was my only practical option.

    Skimmer Gurgling

First thought, try adding more water. It seems like it might not be high enough. Sometimes skimmers (like mine) need a bit more than halfway up the mouth to function properly.

    Up against the wall

You might consider a 2 speed motor replacement. I wanted a v-green but the control panel is too wide to fit my cramped equipment shed. I love the 2 speed. I wired it with a wall switch to change from high to low. Running it low unless heating, then I just flip it to high for that.

Another dead GFCI breaker - what is a normal lifespan?

I replaced my pool equipment, normal breaker with a Siemens GFCI breaker in early 2016. Still going strong, if that helps.

Ground Shift and Broken Return Lines - HELP !

I think that should work. I had a pool about that size once. It had 1 skimmer and 2 returns. Circulation was never an issue.

Hayward pro series W3S166T sand filter leak

Has to be replaced. Contact Hayward and see if they will ship another to you, free of charge. There were several folks with out of warranty leaks who got free replacement from them, with this type of filter.

Any benifit to having pool equipment in a shed?

I've seen plenty of prematurely rusted pump motors to know they'd last longer if they were protected by the elements.

    Stuck Impeller

You're probably fine. The original installer plumbed the pump right next to the sand filter with hardly any clearance, hence the control box on the vgreen not clearing the space. it would hit the sand filter tank.

    Stuck Impeller

Yep my motor looked like that too and was getting a bit noisier. Replaced it with a 2-speed motor. I wanted a vgreen variable speed but there wasn't enough room for the control box, so 2 speed was an easy out.

You might be able to get it repaired at a local motor repair shop. Could be less than a new one.

    Cartridge Filters replaced annually

You can open earlier too. I usually open first weekend in March. Never had algae problem, except we had a warmer than usual winter. Algae was just getting started when I opened this year. Slammed for a week then it was back to Crystal clear.

Pool Leak at Intersection of pipe, looks like a failing of the glue/primer

The flex pipe between the filter vessel and your home siding all touching, while not necessarily a code violation, just looks sloppy to me.

I've had filters with glass Media at one place, then sand at another. Honestly, I'd just go with sand.

Sand in pool - broken filter?

I've been hand vacuuming it with a pool blaster Li and fine silt bag. Each time it gets more of it and now after two weeks it's almost completely gone. It's all over my decking too. Gonna have to power wash it off soon.
