Concrete pool deck waht is better stain or epoxy paint

Stain for sure. Many of the epoxy paints aren't rated for UV exposure or consistently wet environments.

    DIY IGP on a Budget

There are people here that have sunk AG pools. I have not. Mine has a bit of a slope around it, so the goal is to dig the slope back and set the pool into the hillside. Then build a nice deck around it to cover / hide the excavation. One of the days. . . . The economy and all of that...

    DIY IGP on a Budget

I priced a 16x32 rectangle kit with good quality pump & filter, no heater, no SWG. Vinyl liner with one set of steps. Subbing concrete, excavation, and vermiculite floor, permits, do my own electric. Took me to 13-15K. The pool kit alone is around 8K IIRC. That's when I decided to partially...

    Finished DIY build in Georgia

Re: Starting IG DIY build in Georgia Those PVC Pipes look nice- but no connections on them. How did you bend them? Is it regular Sch 40? Heat? BTW- I'm envious.

I Pm'd original poster. He replied stating that some other projects have him sidetracked for the time being but will be back with more pictures when progress on the pool continues.

Odd situation- new pool and need to "cap" off a large hole.

Keetman- I hear ya on the color. They come in different colors. But they are plastic and Krylon makes a special spray paint and bonding primer for plastic. I have used it on some exposed PVC drain pipes to hide them in the landscape and it works great and has held up well out in the...

Odd situation- new pool and need to "cap" off a large hole.

Lots of people around here use these for septic tank access: http://www.septicsolutions.net/store/risers_lids.htm Scroll about halfway down the page and there is a 12" version. I see no reason why you couldn't use something like this for your situation. Found it by Googling "septic tank...

Help....down to the wire on Salt vs Chlorine

Is it not also true that a SWG leaves residual sanitizer (Chlorine) but an ozonator does NOT leave a residual sanitizer? What does Raises "orp" to become chlorine mean? My limited understanding of ozone is that it is good at sanitizing, but is molecularly unstable and therefore lousy at...

    Failed Bonding Grid Inspection Twice

I frequent a lot of homebuilding sites as well as this one. The common advice on all of them is if you got a red tag, ask the inspector to tell you what he wants. It's the easiest and fastest way to give the inspector what they're looking for. It's the job of the PB to get the electrical...

Hey Bob- If you don't mind me asking- who did your build? Are you happy with them? I am thinking of a vinyl inground and I am NW of Baltimore.

"Is there any such thing as an "earth drill bit?" Is your soil sandy there in Gulf Coast? You can bore a hole with high pressure water, but it WILL MAKE A MESS!!! Take a piece of PVC Pipe longer than what you want. Glue a cap on it and drill a small hole in the cap. To the other end...

How are things coming with the remodel soundguy? Haven't had an update in awhile. Did you get the brown goo out? I would go with a citrus cleaner or something and keep upping the aggressiveness of the cleaner till I found something that removed it.

    The kids' feet

What is your pool made of? When i was a kid, I would spend hours in the neighborhood community pool which was concrete. My toes would split something awful. So the concrete and softened skin was my problem. I can swim all day in our vinyl pool and never have an issue. I would think it's...

Like I said, I was just thinking out loud. . . . . I think the T idea or just a 90 elbow shooting the water towards the deep end to get that clockwise circulation going will work ok. Look at it this way, in my above ground, the skimmer and return are right next to each other. When I angle the...

If they are that bad, I would either look into fixing the glass or replacing them entirely. On the return- you deck looks fairly wide, I'm just thinking out loud, but I would consider digging up the return line and plumbing it to the deep end and adding the return there while blocking off...

DIY IG LINER POOL part 1 - know the code and your yard

Re: DIY IG LINER POOL part 1 Waste- I don't know where this thought fits into the process since you alluded to it, but did not address it specifically. As you pointed out, there are MANY stages to DIY and IG Vinyl pool. And as you know, I am considering just this process. But I think it's...

Has anyone done a DIY Inground ? ?

I currently have a 24' AG that I plan to sink and build a deck around. For all the work (and $$$ for composite decking) involved, I have been looking at the DIY inground kits advertised on the internet. I am handy, have built my own addition to my house, and believe I have a good grasp on...

    Need Fencing help

Revstriker gives good advice. I also vote NO on the concrete of all posts for the reasons he mentioned. The drainage is key. I would also go PT - ALL PT wood twists and warps- it's the nature of the beast. Make sure the installers use either stainless of TRIPLE hot dipped galvanized...
