Here we go! Help with decision plz.

Thanks Sollace, we just got a bunch of rain and didn't see the sun for about a week. A new little creek popped up behind our house, but we didn't see any of the wind.

Here we go! Help with decision plz.

I would say yes on the SWG. And here is this week's reason why. Tropical Storm Eta hit us twice. Once when it was passing southern FL and again when it was headed up Tampa's way. It's been nasty off and on for a week. I usually try to pamper my pool every Sunday by doing a chemical check...

    Travertine vs concrete pavers

Good points bbqjosh. I have little ones and they run even though I'm constantly telling them not to. They have not slipped on the pavers either. If I had a slippery surface I would be in trouble. Def a consideration with kids.

    Travertine vs concrete pavers

I don't find our pavers to be hot at all. They get warm, but never have they been too hot for my bare feet. Our pavers are a tan base color.

Small bubbles from the return line

LOL, I had this same issue and it took me MONTHS to figure it out. I thought I had a leak for the longest time and I even tried to use shaving cream to find the suction leak. But yes, you will see small constant bubbles from SWG AND my bubbles didn't go away right after shutting off the SWG...

Construction just began- will I regret not going bigger?

We have a 9500 gallon pool with the deep end being 5ft. Our young kids are very happy and it's enough for what you described (lounging/floats).

My New Old Pool Dig Out

I'm not a builder or even pretend to know anything about building. However, I had my pool remodeled last year and they did the coping first, then the pool tile. When they grouted the tile, they sealed up any spaces between the coping and the tile at that time.

Stonescapes Mini Pebble - Still does not look right

Did they do an acid wash the day after plaster application? It looks like too much creme (I think they call it). The acid wash the next day exposes the pebbles.

New pool build in South Florida .. finally! [Tons of pics]

In my neighborhood some use Areca palms as "fences" but I'm not sure the downsides of doing that. We have some bushes planted right next to our screen that provides some privacy (Clusia). They are fairly slow growing and work for us.

    Tile & Finish Choices

I think it will be a beautiful combo. We have blue, green, and dark in our 1x2 tiles and the colors really accent each other.

Fresh plaster + dirty water = problem?

We did a re-plaster in July. Exact same thing - hydrostatic values and dirty ground water. I was so worried. However, after the acid wash no issues and you can not see anything to indicate staining. It was normal for us.

    Bullnose Concrete Coping Installation

I would think it would need grout due to the water getting in between the joints. I would worry about mold and whatever else might get In there and stay. We just had ours installed and have the smallest grout line between each paver piece. Def not 1/2 inch and prob less than 1/4 inch It’s not...

    Horrible plaster job?

Yeah, wait until the acid wash. You are seeing extra plaster on the surface that will come off during the acid wash. My acid was process was semi-involved. The guy acid washed it and then pressure washed it also. Took a few hours. It still looked a tiny bit splotchy after that but once...

    Let the games begin...

Yeah I agree with kimkats to remove the planter. We had one with our pool and just removed it with a remodel. The palm trees would drop seeds (and other debris) directly into our pool. It was so hard to keep the flower bed clean of weeds. Also we worried about the palm roots pushing against...

    Let the games begin...

I'm happy with the Wet Edge finish. It is beautiful and no mottling. I love the look of the pebble too. Wet Edge installers did a fantastic job. We put down pavers over concrete and the pebble finish. My two year old's feet are getting torn up. She has a new little sore or her toe every...

    Let the games begin...

We just had signature matrix installed last month. It’s pretty rough on the feet. I would feel it in a pool on your feet before choosing it. Not saying we wouldn’t choose it again (it’s a beautiful finish). I’m just surprised when I stand on the steps sometimes how much the pebble pushes into my...

Pool reno/remodel - Pavers, new tile, new plaster.

Last update for anyone following along or others that find it later. See pics for water color after chemistry adjusted. They did an awesome job on the plaster. No visible mottling and it looks amazing at night in the light. Pics took in full sun.

Pool reno/remodel - Pavers, new tile, new plaster.

Thanks @kimkats, I'm really happy with the color. I couldn't find a pic of the color on here (or anywhere) so I'll make sure I post a final picture after the color "settles"

Pool reno/remodel - Pavers, new tile, new plaster.

Pavers today. Here is a peek at the pavers and the pool now that’s it’s full. It’s so beautiful. The installers did an awesome job. We looked at it last night with the light on and it looked so smooth and you didn’t see any trowel marks, mottling, etc The start up guy came today and I watched...

We have water!! Acid wash and pressure wash this morning and now the pool is filling. Pavers over our concrete start tomorrow. Can’t wait until they are all done so I can see the finished product but also clean my house. The dog brings in little bits of construction all day long (ok, so do I...
