12 May 2024 Equipment and Controls While Thin Set Dries

They were laying my filter plumbing the same as they always do, in front. I asked them to use the back so the drain was in the front. It is SUPER nice being able to walk right up to the filter. Your drain looks good as is, but you can put an extension and a valve on it if it ends up...

Are these liner issues I should be worried about?

They used 3 or 4 colors in my corners. Some of my liner was pulling out because they only LL'd the corners so I made the PB LL the whole thing, in one color. But it's stupid easy, and cheap, so I would have DIYd that in a heartbeat if I had to. There was no need to die on that...

Are these liner issues I should be worried about?

The corners should have liner lock wedges shoved in there. For Less than $30 i highly suggest you do the whole pool. It'll take no more than 15 mins and stop areas from pullong out down the road. You literally just push it into the seam at the track with your fingers. If it's tight...

Are these liner issues I should be worried about?

Does it sit in the groove of the other corners ? All 4 of mine are rounded in 90 degree corners. My old pool was too.

Building in-ground cinder block pool, "square flange" return jets & skimmer

What's the pool volume ? For Iowa you want a 2x+ unit. They're rated for 100% runtime so a 2X makes the same FC in 12 hours, 3X in 8 hours, etc. They live proportionately longer for much less cost than lifespan gained. And they save the electricity needed those extra hours of runtime...

Questions regarding a concrete pool deck renovation with marble pavers and coping

🙋‍♂️ I agree skimmers should last a very long time. But if I was going through such an extensive reno, I'd start the skimmers fresh too because I would not want to be tearing it up again 10 or 15 years later just to have that area no longer match.

Newb OB with BYOP in Buckeye AZ - Short vacation pH and FC question

We can armchair quarterback all day long. But there's one way to find out. :salut:. Usually, as with any swing (like a literal swing), if you push harder it comes back with a vengeance. And might whap you upside the face in the process. :ROFLMAO: Either way, PH is a long term concern...

    Large Tear in Vinyl Liner

I would lower the pool a few inches and gorilla tape the snot out of it. They make a waterproof version. Then fill back to where it should be. While it won't look pretty, it'll buy you as much time as you need.

    Large Tear in Vinyl Liner

The where is more important than the how big IMO. You don't have enough meat on the high side to get a good seal. Looploc sent their own guy to measure. He was probably an independent contractor, but they scheduled that. Any goofs were on them.

Vinyl Pool- concrete or polymer and steel walls

Save $20k and archeologists will one day find your still intact pool shell ????? That's a no brainer beyond a no brainer :ROFLMAO: The liner needs replacing at the same interval based upon your local UV, chemistry and liner durability. That's identical between shell styles for each of us.

Vinyl Pool- concrete or polymer and steel walls

Is there an appreciable cost difference? When we built my 1st pool, I wanted a lifetime pool and went with concrete. 10 years later, a 30 year steel wall pool was effectively a lifetime pool, needing replacement when I was in my late 70s or early 80s. So it was back on the table...

Vinyl Pool- concrete or polymer and steel walls

I built 2 of the concrete / vinyl pools and they're basically a house foundation that you can fill. They'll last forever.

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Agreed. It's much higher relying on the pool owner to remember to close it though. Or to care to keep it closed when not in use.

    New pool going in!

+1. I had 80+ oaks on an acre and the mesh cover had crud on it nearly every day. Some years the silt on the bottom was worse than others, but nothing that 2 or 3 passes of the vac didn't fix. When the cover is billowing in the wind, yard debris will blow under either cover. IMO...

It's stunning. But if i had to choose, removing the sewer pipe was the better choice of the 2, IMO. ;) Bravo for both.

Kenai grey micro vs French Grey Micro… can’t decide

My job brings me to many houses and I couldn't even guess how many hundreds of pools I've seen. (Cuz you KNOW I always peek around back). I've yet to see *one* that wasn't beautiful in its own right, in person. There were plenty that weren't my style, or color, or whatevs. They were...

Welcome BACK sis !!!! My guess would be environmental crud. I imagine your spring is mid sprung right now. to prove its not algae related. Also, cartridge filters for the WIN because it's not DE or sand. So there's two things we dont need to chase down right off the bat...

Factor the wind also. A tiny breeze will make over spray. Or an unsteady hand after squeezing the trigger for 30 mins already.

Advice needed to fix mid-construction pool

Not according to this 👇 With 2 porches, one is front and one is back. The back porch is on the front house. The front porch is on the back house.

Advice needed to fix mid-construction pool

Its the pool house. OP mentions the screened area on the 'back porch'. That would be the front porch of the pool house. Lol.

Advice needed to fix mid-construction pool

To me it does. If the left pane was the slider (looking at it) that would give you 9ft in front of the 'open' door. If you're worried about guests seeing in the dark, install a motion activated spotlight back there somewhere. Preferably on a switch so you can turn it off if you'd like...

    New Pool -Upstate NY

No two systems are the same. Start yours at low RPMs and increase by 100 until they come on. And also find where the weir doors are bobbing along (skimming) and any other functions you may have. Add 100 RPMs to each function to account for slightly less flow as the filter gets ditty...

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Pull up the 2022 changes and see if everyone had to adapt to those also. They probably did. This likely isn't the very first time your state is requiring retroactive compliance.
  28. N

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Correct. But everybody *should* already be compliant. Previous revisions likely had similar requirements to adapt to the then new code. Whether or not people did, or didn't and got away with it, is another discussion.
  29. N

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

In really only affects autocover people retroactively, and most people don't get them up here. Anyone else needed a fence in the first place. By me, even above ground pools need a fence.
