Alternatives to putty fix for plaster

Allen, yes, they put rebar in before the original pour. However, I didn't know enough at that stage of the game to check over their work properly, ensure they had compacted the ground before the pour, etc. I suspect that had I known more of what to look for, I might've had some issues to discuss...

Alternatives to putty fix for plaster

Yep. It cracked after the original pour, then was repaired, then topped with textured deck coat. Now cracking again. We'll see if PB has a solution.

Alternatives to putty fix for plaster

Yep, that's the only one I have been able to find thus far. So hopefully that's it. And you're probably right about it being rather minor. I'll take that to heart. Any thoughts on the hairline cracks in the deck topping? I'm thinking about filling them with Sika flex. Any ideas there? Thx

Alternatives to putty fix for plaster

Hi, folks. Brand new pool (finished November). Am dealing with several issues from resulting from sub par contractor work. Am wondering if anyone can help. 1) Noticed chip out of plaster recently. It's about the size of a nickel. I know putty works in these types of situations but wanted to be...

    Sikaflex or other Sika product?

BlindinOC, did ya ever use the Sika flex? I have a few hairline cracks I'm looking to fill on my Kool deck and am wondering if you recommend the product. Thx

Deck showing cracks one day after pour? Suggestions?

Quick update: workers came and opened cracks a bit, them filled them with more cement. They also cut two additional joints. That said, I'm going to request two more joints be cut. For the most part, the fill did the trick, except in a few places where a much thinner -- albeit still visible --...

Deck showing cracks one day after pour? Suggestions?

Thanks, folks. That's all useful information. PB coming out tomorrow to take a look. Says that if a dime can stand upright in the crack, then that's a serious one to deal with, and if no dime will fit, then it's less serious. Also believes from the pics I sent him that these are surface cracks...

Deck showing cracks one day after pour? Suggestions?

Ok. Thanks. In your opinion, is there a quick fix, i.e. cut some new joints, or should these slabs be completely redone?

Deck showing cracks one day after pour? Suggestions?

Yes, was very hot -- 100 easy. So your thoughts are that it might need to be redone completely?

    Price negotiating?

Same with us...all estimates were pretty close. PBs told us upfront they weren't interested in haggling, that the price was the price.

Deck showing cracks one day after pour? Suggestions?

Hi, folks. Deck was poured yesterday and is already showing cracks. Took some pics last night and again this am. Is this a sign of trouble or could it be fixed by cutting a new joint or two early this upcoming week? In terms of prep for pour, it was decent: rebar was raised in most places a few...

Georgetown, TX Pool Build (North of Austin, TX)

We're building right now (having deck poured tomorrow) with similar depths as yours, but whereas you're going 3.5' - 7', we're going 3' - 7'. I'd rather the 3.5' start, especially after reading the posts in this forum for a few weeks now and seeing the point behind the extra 6". Unfortunately, I...

Gunite to tile and coping....5 days? Is that too soon?

Folks, thanks for all the wisdom here. PB wants to start tile and coping 5 days after gunite. Should I be worried? Won't be able to water the beam anymore if they do start, and am concerned in general that it's too soon. I'm in Austin TX...hot...high 90s /low 100s of late, and have been good...

    Gunite uneven laterally...3 + inches...should I worry?

That's a good idea -- -using the laser level and taking notes. What my recourse be for 3+ inches off from one side to the next? Any idea?

    Gunite uneven laterally...3 + inches...should I worry?

Here's the pic I tried to send earlier. Perhaps you can see the rise going from right to left. I'm not a perfectionist, but want a little more uniformity. I know there will be variance. Just trying to figure out if I make an issue of it with PB. - - - Updated - - - Also, since it's visible...

Yep. Here's another. You may be able to see the grade rise from right to left. (pic in post further down...technical difficulties haha)

    Gunite uneven laterally...3 + inches...should I worry?

Hi, folks. Had gunite shot yesterday and noticed that from one side to the other (horizontally) it's uneven by as many as 3 inches in 2 places. Concerned that as I start curing it, there's no way to level except to bring low side up somehow. Really don't want to lose three inches of water. PB...

Pre-gunite, pressure gauge dropping slightly ... concern?

Thanks, to both of you. It is down to 31 now -- 11 pm. I'll keep my eye on it for sure. Question: if they pressure check it with air, why do my skimmers have water in them? I know the day they pressure checked, they asked for my garden hose... Appreciate the time here. Too many things to...

Pre-gunite, pressure gauge dropping slightly ... concern?

Hi folks. We are set to have gunite this Friday. Plumbers were here today muscling the PVC to get it all back into the form -- some long stretches had slipped under the form and two corners had also been set outside the form. I was worried they wouldn't be encased in the gunite, so had PB call...

return pvc 1/4 outside Gunite edge.

I'm having the same issue right now. We haven't shot gunite yet but are scheduled to this Friday. We have a few areas where the pvc is under and outside the form. In this pic you can see a sliver of white under the plywood rather than inside it. This is looking down from a side wall. Have...
