New Intex 32x16x52 build with deck (lots of pictures)

From what I read, it’s the prep work that makes the difference. I pressure washed the deck before I applied it and also used a brush to apply it, since that is supposed to work it into the wood more than just rolling or spraying.

I got the Cabot at Lowes and there is a little sample booklet near the cans of stain that show a variety of sample colors. However, they just tint it like paint and they can actually match any color, like you would with paint. The grey I used was the ‘official’ Cabot ”Seacoast Grey”, but the...

Thanks:) I keep calling it paint, but what I used is the Cabot stain and sealer.

So I know this is an old thread, but I finally (after two years) got around to painting the deck. It was a *lot* of work, but I think it came out pretty well… Hopefully the water will be warm enough for swimming in a couple of weeks:)

On a side note, depending on the age of your dryer, you may want to consider replacing the belt while you have it open, or at least inspecting the belt to make sure it’s still in good shape. I needed to replace the belt on a dryer a few years ago and it required about that much disassembly to...

    Sunken Lounge Inside Pool

It looks stunning, but I feel like it would be incredibly impractical too. There is really no advantage to having that in the middle of your pool and it takes up so much space in the pool that it would seriously impact the usability of the pool.

When I had my old 15’ round intex pool I put some hooks like this on the side of the pool to hold the solar cover: (That’s just a random image from the internet. I couldn’t find any pics of the hooks on my old pool). But you can pull the cover off and kind of accordion fold it onto the...

There was another thread about this recently and basically it came down to this: All oil filled gauges require venting to compensate for temperature changes. However, oil filled gauges have a number of advantages, including lasting longer because the oil helps to prevent corrosion. A lot of...

The only problem with having your gauge laying back like that is that the pressure relief port isn’t on the top, so when you open it to vent the gauge oil may leak out. Because of the way liquid filled gauges work they are very temperature sensitive and if you don’t vent it before you take a...

Well, after having a real skimmer installed for a few days, I now take this statement back. The real skimmer is installed in nearly the same place that my intex over the wall skimmer was installed, but it is so much more effective at skimming than the Intex one was. I was having a lot of...

It’s a Pentair Warrior SE. I got it from marina pool spa and patio, which seems to be the place to get them from. I had to build a little thing with PVC (and filled with sand) to keep my intex cleaner from going under my steps: It worked well for the intex cleaner, but I’m a bit concerned...

New Intex 32x16x52 build with deck (lots of pictures)

I haven’t updated this thread in a little while, but I have gotten some upgrades:). First, I replaced my intex auto cleaner with this: I really loved the intex auto cleaner in my old 15’ intex pool, but I think this pool is just too big for it. It got maybe 80% of the stuff off the bottom...

Did you try lifting since it’s been totally full? The legs are reasonably easy to lift and move when it’s only 1/4 or 1/2 way full, but by the time it’s completely full I think there’s at least a few hundred pounds on each leg. Good luck in any case:)

I think it is definitely more critical on the rectangular pools. When I put up my little 15’ round pool I just used a standard brick under the legs. It was fine for a while, but after a year or a year and a half I had a couple where the leg was off center to start with and over time the brick...

The foam sheets are pretty light weight and blow around pretty easily. I would suggest not putting down the foam too early, especially if you’re expecting storms. Bricks and such might help to weigh them down, but if the wind gets under them they could still fly away.

It may be a little too late for you now, but when I was doing my deck and patio I discovered that lowes and home depot will deliver anything to your house within a day or two for a flat fee of $80. And if you get a lowes business credit card then the delivery fee is only $20. Obviously some...

Need Pool Placement Suggestions for Backyard

Looking at your picture, the one thing I will say is that most cities have setback requirements and your pool and deck probably need to be a certain distance from your property line. Possibly as much as 10 feet or more. From your proposed overhead view it looks like the corner of your deck...

That reminds me of something that happened to me a number of years ago. As my wife and I were going to bed one night we both thought we could faintly smell smoke. It certainly wasn’t strong enough to panic over, but it was enough to be a little concerning. We didn’t smell any smoke outside...

    Deck space issue.

Unfortunately, at this point I think you’re pretty stuck. Whether it’s right or wrong he’s not going to change the price if you come back and say “Hey, a bunch of guys on the internet think this is too expensive“. So really you need to decide if that extra 20 square feet is worth $1600 to...

For what it’s worth, I would seriously reconsider putting the pool way back at the end of the yard like that. I just recently upgraded my pool and added a patio and deck, so now I can get into the pool from the house without walking across any grass and this is such a huge improvement. My old...

Landscaping issue - What would you do?

Well, for better or worse I’m pretty committed to river rocks and pool noodles at this point;) I did like the river rocks as they tend to be rounder and less sharp, so if one or to do manage to work their way under the liner I feel like they would be less likely to cause a puncture. My other...

Landscaping issue - What would you do?

I just put in an intex 32x16 pool and I have decided to put river rock around it. Most of it is going to be pretty easy as the pool is pretty much at grade: I’ll just fill in between the edger and the pool, and I’m going to stuff some pool noodles under the pool to help keep rocks from...
