    Deck for above-ground pool

The deck I built was all stick built, but I think the prefabbed units would be fine. I went with stick built because then I could match the shape of the pool and build it to the size I wanted. I could also add on to it later if I decided. I attached a drawing of what I built. As for placement...

    Pool dig started Manteca, CA

That's aluminum wire, so now you're down to 40 amps capacity. Definitely going to need to pull a new run.

    Pool dig started Manteca, CA

The NEC has rules about amperage for conductor size and voltage drop calculators use voltage, amps, and length of wire to determine wire size. The breaker size is determined by load requirements of the equipment or wire ampacity.

    Pool dig started Manteca, CA

If it's #6 copper it's good for 55 amps, so you're really pushing it to run what you've listed above. The heat pump alone will max it out when it starts. In my opinion you're going to need much larger wiring.

    Cold Plunge Pool... Geothermal Cooling???

Allen, why wouldn't you run the pool water through the loop? If you put an exchanger in the circuit you're just going to use water to one side of the exchanger and pool water on the other side. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me the only thing you're doing is adding the losses created by the exchanger...

    Cold Plunge Pool... Geothermal Cooling???

Seems as if you've done a good bit of research and I commend you. Your idea of cooling the pool is sound, but I'd go as deep as possible with the trenches. I might even consider boring wells instead of trenches, to get the delta temp as high as possible, though the cost might be prohibitive...

    Pool liner install

Calm down you're stressing yourself out about this. :) The installer is correct the liner will conform to the shell with the weight of the water. I've never heard of there being summer and winter cuts. The liner mfg's. build the liner to fit the shell with some stretch so there are no wrinkles...

    Pool liner install

Yes pretty much. I just wanted you to be aware that once you make a cut in it you're committed to finishing it at that point.

    Pool liner install

You can try and install it and if you find out that it's more of a job than you can handle you can put it back in the box and wait. However this is only if you don't make any cuts to the liner for steps, skimmer(s) drains, etc.. Then there's the whole folding the liner back up so it'll go back...

    Anode location

I'm going to go against the flow a little (pun intended : ) ). While I agree that a buried anode is preferred, adding one to the water flow isn't a terrible idea. Given that you have a polymer walled vinyl pool, it isn't as effective for you as it would be for someone with more metal in their...

    Wiring schematics

As James eluded to, on 230 volt equipment that doesn't require 120 volts for controls, etc., they don't need a neutral. They only require L1, L2, and ground.

New Member & Buster Crabbe Pool

Can you post a picture of the part(s) you're looking for? There have been a few threads about those parts. I think you'll have better luck finding someone to 3d print some pieces for you if you have a some that are complete enough that you can get detailed pics and measurements from.

Spoke to an electrician... is this right?

Here's what the code says. It says nothing about it having to have a twist lock plug. However, if an inground pool pump does have a plug and cord, it has to be a twist-lock.

Builder says pool depth cant be 3' 6" from waterline

I think you'll be fine. You can always run the water level near the top of the skimmer and it'll be fine. I actually like that the builder calls out the actual depth instead of panel height. That tells me that they're not trying to fool you.

    Bonding Pool Water

It helps to know what type pool you're talking about. the most universal water bonder is the Perma-Cast P2008. It's put into the plumbing so it will work for either an inground or aboveground pool.

    I hope someone reads this

A skimmer bonding plate is pretty common, but they make other ways of doing it that doesn't require drilling a hole in the skimmer. The Perma-Cast - Water Bonding Fitting comes to mind. You just pit a threaded branch tee in the plumbing and it screws in there.

Builder says pool depth cant be 3' 6" from waterline

Sounds like your builder doesn't want to modify his standard plans to accommodate your wants. That part about having to create side slopes is a ward off tactic, it's hogwash. Even if you had sandy soil they can make the walls vertical all the way to the bottom. Besides another 6" to 8" isn't...

    Expanding a pool deck

The issue is that whatever you do other than tear the deck out and start over is going to look patched. The right contractor could cut the "neck" where the patio meets the pool deck and reuse the bricks to border it straight across and then you could decide if you want to pour concrete (stamped...

    Foam instead of sand

There are times when I wish our AGP had a main drain, but the leak potential and the amount of work it would require to fix it keeps me from installing one.

Can this be patched or is it a total demo?

We have a few guys here that are contractors, Hopefully they'll chime in and impart some wisdom. From the looks of it you're almost at the point of rip it all out and start over. Do you have a price for the repairs they say are needed? You can compare that to the original install cost.

    need to refinish pool?

The big issue with Zeo is that it either works really well or it doesn't work at all. The issue with Zeo causing cloudiness is usually from the installer not rinsing and installing it according to the mfg instructions, but sounds like it's been installed a while and you've had good luck with it...

Pop Up Floor Cleaner System in Small Pool

I'm personally not a fan of infloor cleaners, but they work better in smaller pools if installed correctly. However, cost to benefit ratio is going to be high for a pool that small. We have a few people that have them and maybe they will chime in.

Need Pool Placement Suggestions for Backyard

    2) This is something you and your family is going to have to decide on your own. If you haven't, I highly recommend you visit some local pool companies to see what they have to offer. You may be surprised. One thing to make sure of when picking a pool is that installing a swcg doesn't void the...

Need Pool Placement Suggestions for Backyard

Let's lay this out in steps. As mentioned, leveling the ground from the lowest point is the proper way to install the pool. The first question to ask yourself is how long you want this pool to last? If it's a few years (~10) then most any steel walled pool will work. If it's as long as...

Different pvc pipe sizes at construction site?

The NEC allows a 40% fill for more than 2 wires in a conduit. Four #4's in a 1¼" PVC conduit is about 23% fill, so you're good.

    Water Bonding Maintenance

It wouldn't bother me one bit to have those bonding devices buried. Every bond connection around the pool is buried and nobody worries about that. the water bonds are no different. The only thing I'd worry about is that it's where the pipe stays full of water. Also, skimmer bonds aren't fool...

Grounding and Bonding an in ground pool

Since your pool is a polymer structure with a vinyl liner it's considered non-conductive, so you need to be concerned with perimeter bonding, water bonding, conductive, and electrical equipment bonding. While the code doesn't call out a bonding loop per sé, it says that the bond wire shall...

    Which GFCI breaker to use?

GFCI by it's nature is personnel protection. Even the 30ma trip units are personnel protection units, they're just designed to tolerate some minor apparent leakage produced by some electronic instrumentation. Having said that, if the pump will operate and not nuisance trip the 5ma unit, that's...

    Design change feedback needed ASAP

It's hard for us to tell without overhead views, but it wouldn't bother me to have the pool skewed from the house. It also wouldn't bother me to have a triangular space if it wasn't detrimental to the property. It appears that your husband did some design and is confident with it. If that's...
