Dirt settling under pavers ... who should fix it?

Hey all - Pool completed mid June 2016. Not much rain through the summer and from fall until early December, we didn't have rain for over 8 weeks. Then suddenly in mid December and on, a lot of rain. So much that the pavers under our deck (on the top part of a PB built retaining wall) and...

    Pentair VS tripped breaker....now nothing

Thanks all for the advice! I think it was two problems - a tripped breaker (cause tbd), then overheat. Incredibly fortunate that the PB took mercy on me and was at my house by noon Saturday. He reset the entire system's electric at the houses' electrical panel. He said even though I was...

    Pentair VS tripped breaker....now nothing

Greetings fellow swimmers, Swimming in a 6 week old pool. Of course it's a holiday weekend and we have friends and family in town. Pentiar IntellifloXF pump. Spent all day yesterday swimming. DE filter was cleaned two weeks ago and the pressure hasn't gone up to the 'clean' indicator. Had...

Cost of concrete decking per sq ft?

In Georgia, my contract included 1500 sq ft stamped. Anything over was supposed to be $8.50 sq ft. Ended up upgrading to pavers for $1 more a sq ft. Ended up with 2500 sq ft . We also had an option for plain concrete. So, per foot for me: concrete - $6.80 stamped - $8.50 pavers - $9.50

Life after the build..... This weekend, in anticipation of a party my wife was going to have, I hung up patio string lights (Costco purchased...50ft. string). I never really thought about how I was going to hang them until the pool was about done. I needed them high. I looked online and saw...

Thanks! We love it! The closing picture of the "build" part of this thread: I can't believe it's finally over! :) :) :) If you would have asked me a year ago in June if I would have thought I'd ever have a pool this nice just a year later, I would have just laughed! We are so very...

Yep :) It's done! Most has been in for 3 weeks, a small area for 2. Ha ha...the gator. When I was a kid 25 or so years ago, my grandma got me one of those for my birthday to use in our little 3 foot sears pool!!! I got that for my wife for Christmas! Like everything else in this adventure...

Fence installation With regard to the fence, I had two choices: just around the pool, or claim as much of my yard as I could (we have an acre lot). I figured with the slope we would have left, if I didn't fence in the whole yard, I'd never worry about what happened outside of the fence and it...

The shelf is great, we have been spending a lot of time on it. The kids love the bubblers and when lit at night with color changing lights, it's pretty cool. The benches are getting a ton of use as well. My only regret so far is that as much time as I enjoy spending time on a float at the...

Plaster day finally came the 3rd week of April. Like most of the big events during this build, I wasn't in town. We did go with Blue Surf and it was a great choice. After an acid wash, filing commenced. It was slow. We live in the back of the neighborhood. Pressure has never been great...

More stone work: Waterfall complete. On the right side of the pic, you can see the semi-circle steps in process: - - - Updated - - - Because I hadn't spent enough yet, we did go ahead and add a fire pit. It's pretty nice: My six year old in the background hammering rocks...

Hello all!! I've been neglecting inside the house stuff for work outside, around the finally completed pool! It's been totally finished for 3 weeks, but we've been able to swim for about the past month. Things slowed down a lot at the very end: the pavers I switched to were delivered and...

    Timeline for Payments

Similar to mine, but mine was initially all equal installments. However, after adding stuff throughout the build, it became tilted with higher percentages at the end. 1 more payment due....truckload of pavers delivered this morning and they are out there doing the base now. The end is near...

Pool almost done and looking so awesome. I'll get pics soon. Plaster in. Have jumped in...it's cold. My 6 year old doesn't care. Definitely quality crews....things have been great, and everyone has done quality, caring work. Kissafish - PB sent through PM. Kim - I thought it was okay to...

Rocks going up. Took these hard workers about a week and a half to finish it all. While they were working on the wall, they'd break for a bit and do some coping. Just to change things up I guess. As they were building the wall with the blocks, I just assumed it would be tiered as the number of...

Right on Sheree...I let her handle all the tiles and figure the happier she is, the easier it is to hear 'yes' to when I keep adding stuff. The rock guys have finished all of their work on the wall and the coping. The waterfall is next. These guys are amazing, and I am blown away at their...

Georgia Pool Build.... FIRED PB need advice please!!!

Re: Owner Build in Georgia :) Your plans look great! Definitely a lot of plumbing. My PB actually used a rather large sub from your side of town to do some of our excavation and rebar. I'll try to find the name.

Initially, the retaining wall that was going to have to go behind the deep end was going to be 10-12 feet off the pool and follow the curvature. One of the PB's guys was out here last week and he mentioned he could put a sharper turn in wall and cut the hill off a little sooner thus giving me...

I think we are going to nix mosaics. Waiting on a quote from the rock guy to the PB for what his labor price would be on the fire pit. The stacked stone wall is amazing looking (pics coming!) and a fire pit to match somewhere on the patio will just add to the awesomeness. Before the rock got...

The stone work is pretty amazing. Two guys spent a week breaking down the pallets of smaller rock and hammering and chiseling EVERY SINGLE PIECE. It's crazy, I had no idea that much work went it to it. They are currently stacking the stone on a retaining wall that is 80-100' long. Haven't...

Our view from late December until March. Getting fuller.... After that last picture was taken, we had another big storm and the pool had even more water in it. Finally about 3 weeks ago we had a stretch of dry weather forecast. The guys came out, drained the pool and got to work. They...

The next day or two after the dig, the guys got out there to get plumbing and rebar done. They were a little concerned that the wall in the deep end would fall in since that's where the old leach field began. This was another quick process. They started plumbing work early in the morning and...

The initial dig day in mid-November. Before they could start laying out the pool, they had to dig out the old septic tank and do a little leveling of the yard. Hopefully this gives you an idea of the slope: Tackling the tank: What a mess tank was. It had rained a lot between the time I had...

I'm back! So it's been about 4 months. Kids and work have kept me busy but more importantly, after the initial dig in November and gunite in early December, work stopped for nearly 3 months. The guys needed dry weather to work and it rained enough weekly this winter that things never got dry...

Blue Surf Pebble sheen....was it an upgraded color?

Hi All, I realize my Atlanta area build thread is 3 months behind. I promise to update this weekend. Significant delays due to rain! So here are the specs for the pool. The final contract is a little different than this but, not by much. We also added a line about adding mosaic tile in the pool if we chose. The tile guys will install. PB will sell it to me for what I can buy it for online. We still have to decide if we...

    Do-it-yourself mosaic and tiles
