I have a Pentair 4000 series pool filter and was back washing whenever the water stopped going over the spillway on the hot tub back into the pool. I was talking to a pool service guy and he said it's not a good idea to back wash these filters as it shortens their life span....found that weird...

When I power up my Jandy PDA after it goes through the start up windows and to the first screen that displays current status the first field which is "pool mode" sometimes doesn't appear till it cycles through the screens a couple of times. Is this the beginning of the end for this PDA? thanks...

Moderator comment - Moved from here: Pool Light is Tripping the GFCI Not to hijack but I am going through the exact same thing. I checked continuity on the lines out to the junction box thinking something may have shorted and did not show a short. So I am stymied as well. Thanks
