    Plumbing leaks

I think that's going to be my plan for next year. I need to sort out break points so I can come apart in the winter, but I am tired of the constant leaks from the flex hose. I was hopeful someone had some magical fix or it was something I was doing wrong.

    Plumbing leaks

I'm pretty frustrated as I continue to have drips where the flex pipe meets the fitting. No issues with the fitting going into the hardware, just the host on the fitting. I'm looking for suggestions on what folks have found works for them. I think am currently using 1.5" flex with smooth...

    some help with numbers

Previous BBBer but it's been a while since I have done the BBB method. About two years ago I converted to trichlor pucks because I would be away on weekends and had no one to manage the pool. I thought it might be easier, especially since I winterize the above-ground pool and swap out at least a...

Chlorine Feeder and Pump Run Times

I am looking at adding a chlorine feeder to the pool this year since we will be away on vacation often and there will be no one available to add liquid chlorine. We only run the pool for 3 months in the summer and end up swapping out about 1/2 the total water each year due to winterization so I...

    Liner replacement question

That was my original plan, but I have read horror stories of liners coming out if the track. I am also debating switching to salt and though that the over the edge might protect the walls better. If I do go with the bead wouldn't I need to take off the top rails to remove the old liner, or...

    Liner replacement question

Hi I am replacing my liner and have purchased a U/J liner that can also be changed to a beaded liner. I currently have an overlap liner installed and what I believe is a bead retainer from before we moved into the house so this will be our first liner change. I am wondering if I can use the U/J...

SWG Sizing and questions about SWG

At my wife's request I am debating switching the pool to SWG this year. I am a little confused as to getting the right SWG for the pool. Its above ground, about 12.5 Gallons . I have solar heat so I run the pump during daylight hours, about 9-10 hours a day. I don't run it at night to maintain...

    low/no solar heat questions

yes, that's what I meant, the sensor says 31 even thought the cooler water is coming down. When i first turn it on the water is quite a bit warmer. I had remembered it being much warmer during the summer last year, but maybe that's just because of where the sun sits in the sky and the ambient...

    low/no solar heat questions

I just opened for the summer, from what I remember its about what it was last year. My pressure bypassing the solar is 13, with solar on is 14. The water feels slightly warmer than what is coming out of the return, definitely not a major noticeable difference. I have not been on the roof, I...

    low/no solar heat questions

I just have the hayward 3 way valve that is controlled from the solar controller, and it is running to the panels. The pressure is about 14 according to the filter. The panels are on the 2nd story of my house, its about a 50' run of pipe to and from, the current outside temp is 20C, the panels...

    low/no solar heat questions

I have a few panels on the roof, and a solar controller. My current pool temp is 16C (60F) and according to the solar controller the temp at the collectors is 28-31C (85F ish). When the solar kicks in the water from the return is still cold, I notice very little difference between the solar...

Solar controller & 120v pool pump

Good point, I hadn't thought about it getting the correct temperature sensor. I'll just leave it in the same setup as normal, pump on, solar valve doing the switching. Thanks again for the reply!

Solar controller & 120v pool pump

I have a Hayward AQ-SOL-LV solar controller and I am looking to power the pool pump (120v), so it only comes on when there is a call for heat from the solar. Right now I have the pump running and the solar just opens and closes throughout the day. I like that in the summer when its hot but...

    Enersol Solar Panels?

I am looking at getting solar installed this spring and have a few quotes. The one I am debating is quoting enersol panels. Does anyone have experience with them? I am in Canada so they will have to go through the winter. I would be happy to hear what you think of them or if there is another...

Solar Reel - over end or in the middle?

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I think I would have like to have one that was the full width then placed it off the pool, BUT we ended up getting a second hand one that was shorter, but in this case money talked and second hand was cheaper. Next time maybe full length or homemade. Thanks!

Solar Reel - over end or in the middle?

Thanks, looks great. Does anyone prefer or use the ones that are smaller than the pool? Thanks

Solar Reel - over end or in the middle?

I am unsure which way to go here. I have a 24' round and I am looking to get a roller. Should I get a smaller one, like 18' or so and place it off center or a 24' one and have it in the center. The reels I am looking at have pivots so I can swing it out of the way. Opinions? thanks

    Seat Caps

I took off the winter cover yesterday and remembered that some of my seat caps were in rough shape. Are these pool specific? and if so does anyone have any idea who made this pool. There is no label that I can see that shows who made it...

The people here are great, Thanks

I closed our pool this weekend, and I wanted to say Thanks to everyone on these boards. Not only to say thanks to the folks who seem to almost every detail about all pools, equipment and chemical balance, but also to the folks who posted the questions looking for help. Although this is my first...
