    Sealant in concrete autofill enclosure

Hi, I am draining my pool and I have had a small leak near the autofill. While I'm draining I figured I would clean out the autofill enclosure, which is round and has concrete on the sides. So I wondered what would be good to use in the concrete enclosure where the autofill is to seal it up...

Got the couplers ordered. Is there a special PVC glue I should use for this or is the regular blue stuff ok?

    No Water Flow

Just ordered a Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pool Pump EC-011028 I have seen some folks talk about getting certain fittings to make installation easy. Does this pump normally come with those or should I order those separately? And if so, any suggestions of a good source?

    No Water Flow

Thanks. How complicated is it to put in a surge protector? I don't really want to get into doing stuff at my main breaker box, but can one just be put in-line by the pump? I don't have a subpanel there, just the wires come in and hook into the pump, light switch, etc.

I see you have a Calimar 3 HP. What has been your experience?

No rebate in our area. The Calimar is a fraction of the cost. In simple terms, what do you give up with the Calimar? Or is the function similar, but you just are going with an off-brand?

    No Water Flow

So following up on my no water flow posting, I was getting ready to put in a new seal kit while cleaning the impeller and the plate that takes the four screws on our Whisperflo literally crumbled apart as I was trying to take off the four bolts. parts of the plate are just like dust. So I...

    No Water Flow

So we were trying to take off the plate with the four bolts to put the new seal kit in and the whole plate fell off and where the four bolts attach, it was disintegrating. So I think it's time for a new pump. Suggestions?

In the process of cleaning the impeller. There was some stuff in there. Question, how do you tell how old the pool pump is? The pump is a WFE-4 and the serial number is 03/24/08.

I don't have one of those gauges.

    No Water Flow

A couple years ago I took the pump apart and cleaned the impeller. Is that something that might help here? Also, when i open the valve on the top of the DE filter when it is running, I don't get any air coming out there.

    No Water Flow

I ran a hose back from the pump basket and I got water coming out my cleaner line in the pool, so the line is ok that far. How do I check for a leak or blockage in the lines around the pump/filter area?

Cleaned the seal and O=ring and put the lid on. It looks the exact same as the previous video I loaded.

    No Water Flow

I wouldn't call it a squirt really, but just the water rushing back in from the pump side. Would the pump seal make it all of the sudden stop there being any suction at all? I get you're saying those are steps that should be taken, and whether to do those, or make the move to a new pump is...

    No Water Flow

The squirt comes from the pump, not from the pipe which is fed by the skimmer and cleaner. Gotta take my daughter to ballet. Be back later.

    No Water Flow

When I turn the pump off, the water comes back into the basket from the pump side (coming down from the DE filter from the sound), not the return side.

    No Water Flow

When I try to do a video with my phone it says file too large. I can tell you that the standing water in the pump basket drops down quickly when I turn on the pump and then when I turn off the pump, water flows back in and I can hear it draining down from the DE filter.

    No Water Flow

Yes, psi on the de filter is zero. I haven't changed anything on it from yesterday when it ran fine. And I tried priming the pump and that didn't change anything. The Whisper Flow pump is probably at least 14-15 years old. We have owned the house for 12 years and it was there at least a few...

    No Water Flow

Yesterday it ran fine, so I don't think it is the DE filter needing to be backwashed. Because there isn't suction for either the skimmer or cleaner, I don't think it is something specific to either of those lines, as the other line would still work if there was a problem with one. There has...

    No Water Flow

It's a pretty simple system. No waterfalls or anything. The two suctions come in on the left of the first picture and there is a valve there to direct how much to come from the cleaner or the skimmer.

Water levels are all normal. I have two suction lines, the skimmer and a separate line for the cleaner. I don't see anything abnormal with either one.

    No Water Flow

So I go out to my pool this morning to check on things, and the pump is running, but there is no water flow at all. I go over and turn the pump off and open up the leaf catcher in the pump and the water is really hot. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
