So I rented a house last spring that had an in-ground pool. My first ever experience with a pool. I was unsure of what to do and started the classic googling. I was referred to this site by another forum and I started reading through the Pool School articles (A Must!!!). I was unsure what I...

    Radioactive nightmare..

In all seriousness Brandyfer, you need to stop doing what you think is right. And seriously take a listen to the people on this forum. It may take some time or it might not, but do not look for a quick fix. Quick easy fixes are what made your water turn green in the first place. Once you get on...

Sad to say but you probably won't be able to swim right away. Like everyone will say on here. http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/ Read the Pool School link and read it, then read it again, then again. Don't put anything in your pool other than what is listed under the Pool School...

Got home this afternoon and the FC had dropped a bit (My CYA is about 30-35 so not the best sunscreen) due to our 92* super sunny day. But as you can see i am crystal clear!! I vacuumed everything and got all the sand out of the pool so everything is looking good. FC - 10.6 (bumped it back up...

Little clue! Bought new house with a pool, trying to get set up.

FYI how much Granuals for CYA did you add. Sometimes it can take a WEEK to get a good reading for CYA, unless you use the liquid (seems pretty quick). just an FYI on CYA.

How to physically add chlorine? Looking for ideas

I was under the impression you don't need to dilute it. just pour it in over the return and if you worrie just pour slower. if you are really concerned take a brush and sweep underneath where you poured to get rid of "hot-spots" in case it didn't mix when you first poured it. if you do it that...

So i vacuumed this morning and for the first time i could see the vacuum head on the bottom in the shallow end (just barely). i could also notice that some of my color in my pool was due to sediment on the bottom because i could see a change as I vacuumed. Noticed my PSI was back up to 15 PSI...

So I started to think that the only thing i haven't touched in my system is the DE filter. After my pressure not changing since the day it was turned on (14-15 psi even after backwashng) I started to think to myself, i think the pool guys were wrong (shocker). i had believed them when they said...

I only put in like .5-.75 pounds of CYA via powder so if it does go up I should still be very much ok. I tested first thing this morning and i was still a little high on the FC to take my PH (13) but as of now I am FC - 10 CC - 1 PH - 7.6 TA - 210 CH - 300 I went to Home depot and picked up...

Just did another quick test. FC - 17.5 CC - 1.5 TA - 200-210 didn't really bother with the others for now since i doubt they have changed. So i dropped another 4 FC in a 4 hour period so I'm looking good to be under 10 by first thing tomorrow morning. Then i can level out PH/TA depending on...

I'm sure my cloudiness is due to high PH - TA. I've got blue green water just cloudy. I might drop a little acid in it today to say drop it from 7.5 to 7.0 or somthing to be safe. i remember the pool guy that opened the pool saying that they dropped in like 20-25 lbs of baking soda to get the PH...

*Update So i got my test kit yesterday and hit the ground running. I tested everything and got some wierd results. I guess my guestimates were wrong about my chlorine levels. I got home and it was around 4 for FC. My wife put a gallon of 12.5% about 2 hours ago. Pool Calc said 98oz so i just dumped the whole 128oz in. We will see what that does. maybe i can test my diluted chemistry in an hour or so and see what happens. Good news is i can see my pool return nozzles...
